Who Should Get the 2016 Olympics?

With the shortlist completed and 538 having done a story on it, what does CFC have to say about the 2016 Olympics selection process?

The candidates:

Chicago

Rio

Tokyo

Madrid

Chicago, because I have never been and can get there cheaper

Of course I'm partial to Chicago, but I'd be very interested to see Rio do the Olympics.

It would be cool to see it in Rio, but Chicago is close to me (2 hour distance, 6 hour drive time! Thanks, Eisenhower! ), so...yeah.

Don't give it to Chicago.

Toronto should have gotten it last, they deserve to get it the next time they're eligible (not in 2016 cause the winter games are in vancouver this year).

If Chicago got it, Toronto would have to wait much much longer.

Tokyo's had them. I know it'll've been over 50 years but that's still a minus in my book.

Rio de Janeiro would have a lot of work to do to clean up... the socioeconomic split in that city can't be ignored. (In before Luiz comments about the lazies in the slums voting for that socialist who doesn't help them!)

Chicago does nothing for me.

Madrid has potential.

Rio de Janeiro should get it. South America hasn't had a single one host event yet.

But realistically I imagine the country that pays the most will get it instead.

Can't have Europe twice in a Row so Madrid shouldn't get it.
Same reason for Tokyo - far east Asia two out of three times.

So Rio or Chicago - not having been to either I say Rio

I guess Obama would be in favour of Chicago - summer Olympics in his stomping ground to finish off his second term.

Either of the American options are good from a time zone point of view for me so long as the events are in the afternoon / evening.

I like it when similar events go to countries they were never staged into. Plus, it should be winter there, therefore avoiding excessive heat.
