i can't get this working... it just stops at 81%... i wait about 10 minutes, press Alt + Ctrl + Del and find out that civ is not responding, i close the program... i can't get this scenario to work... any help on how to do this??

Mixster: Just wait a little while more. On some computers it takes a long time to load the first time you start it up. And the task manager always says that civ isn't responding when its loading, don't know why though. So just wait a little more and it will work.

you can say that with a smile when it's not YOU who has to wait :p

Week 34:
Port Moresby is mine after being bombarded by He 177 Greif strategic bomber.

New BB: Graf Luckner

PC turn: A FW 190 downed the last B 29.

Week 35:
Production slows down. I have only a few units really produced.

Week 36:
Only 4 units produced. negative record. So I decided to launch the invasion of the US now. A TR full of some minor inits, 2 inf, 1 Jagdpanther, 1 FlaK (88), 2 StuG IIIG is sent to take St. Johns to have a base for my Luftwaffe.

USA SID v2.2

1943 Report

As 1942 ended we had total control of the Japanese home islands although no air trade limits production possibilities. The British have taken all the other Pacific islands. Japan has almost all of China and we presume battles rage between Britain and Japan.

In Europe we have 17 cities but have met the Russians coming the other way with superior armor. Germany holds the center.

Before I go on let me state that while turn times are very long, this has been the most fun I have had playing this scenario and I have played it for a long time. The logistical and tactical challenges have been significant and I am sure I have made many errors but I will be the better for it. Hats off to our leader Rocoteh!

Week 1 - We take Leipzig
Soviets take Kushiro(N Japan) from British

Week 3 - We take Kushiro from the Russians

Week 4 - Berlin is ours! With Tokyo and Berlin we could call it a day but the challenge is too great.
We gift Brest to the British - we could sorely use their superior armor against the Russians.
Peace is declared with Brazil - we never engaged them.
War declared with Argentina - we will try and stay out of it.

Week 5 - Massive Soviet forces moving forward near Hamburg and Berlin.

Week 6 - Disaster! We loes the battle for Rostock including overe 20 artillery units! We have clearly gone too far and are now exposed to Soviet counterattack if they have the units.

Week 7 - BERLIN LOST to the Soviets
Week 8 - Argentina declares war on Brazil
Norway/Russia peace
Soviets on the offensive, we are clearly on defense now
Week 9 - Dresden lost
Week 10 - Hamburg lost
Week 11 - Bremen lost - Soviet armor is overpowering, we have insufficient defensive units to hold them back.
Week 12 - No city lost!
Week 13 - Peace with Argentines
Leipzig lost!
Week 14 - Japan eliminates the Chinese - even without the home islands they are a credible force.
We are holding in Europe, the Wolverines are coming on line!
Week 15 - Japan declares war on the Soviets - perhaps that will ease the pressure on us
Week 16 - Soviets/Allies peace -we can use it!
Week 17 - Soviets declare war
Week 20 - We are holding our positions at Amsterdam etc.
Britain declares war on Spain - good! We can use the opportunity to take Spain and shorten our supply lines!
Week 23 - We take Zaragoza
Soviets making progress in Africa - explains why we are being able to handle them - timing good for us as we divert units to invade Spain from the Atlantic.
Week 24 - Brazil/Arg peace
Week 25 - Greece in war with the Soviets - bad news - will open up the Med
Week 26 LaCaruna is ours
Week 28 Barcelona is ours
Week 29 Madrid is taken
Week 30 Valencia taken
Spain/Soviets peace - did not know there was a war!
Week 31 - Cordoba taken - Spain is eliminated We are working a railroad from LaCoruna to Bordeaux
Convoy ferries now go to LaCaruna instead of Bordeaux
Week 33 Stuttgart taken - We are back on the offensive -even if we took it from the Germans. We see Italy as a good opportunity. If we can work our way to take Venice from the Soviets and hold it we should be able to scoop up the other Soviet held cities - Milan, Rimini and Bologna as there is no line of resupply for the Russians. Also, Venice holds good defensive positions with mountains.
Week 35 Innsbruck taken on the road to Venice
Week 36 Soviets moving on our northern flank towards Dortmund which we have very heavily reinforced because this is to be our Ironworks city.

Massive stack of infantry and armor are good targets for our artillery and then for our Shermans to get promoted. This goes on and on throughout 1943 in killing grounds near Dortmund.

Week 38 - Russians declare war on Turkey - I suppose they have been frustrated with us and see a better target.

Week 41 - Munich is ours!
Soviets destroy Turkey- no razing
Week 42 - Greeks start declaring war on everyone - I won't list them or the ensuing peace

Week 45 - We take Venice and hold against huge counterattack by Soviets

Week 47 - Britain and Russia declare peace
Soviets tell us to get out of their territory but we do not want peace without at least those Italian cities so we say no and the war is on again
Week 49 - We take Bologna - heavy air attacks from Russians
Week 50 - Milan
Week 51 - Rimini
Week 52 - Britain declares war on Norway - we will stay out of it

So as the year ends we hold a line in Europe of easternmost cities of Amsterdam, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, Munich, Innsbruck and Venice. We hold all to the east with the exception of Torino and Bern. We will be taking out the three southern Italian cities shortly (still held by Italy).

Soviet attacks continue near Stuttgart, Munich and Venice. We are gradually getting control of the air as our B-29s are on line and we chew up Soviet fighters. Artillery helps to push back the attackers as they approach.
We avoid any cities on the plain if they do not have a few spaces between them and Soviets - we simply cannot handle the IS-2s. Unclear on next offensive move, either we try and go for the South Bucharest to cut off Greece (this is complicated now by the Russians controlling Turkey) or simply slug to Praque and back up to Berlin.

Elsewhere - the Soviets have reached In Salah in North Africa. They have razed six cities but hold Egypt etc. I presume they see no value in continuing. There is some thought to going in via North Africa but I want to avoid two attack areas not connected.

In Asia the Japanese finally took HongKong sometime in the last quarter of 1943. They have all of China now with the French in Vietnam and the British in starting positions. Russia has Persia and everything West of that.

Having a great time but need to come up with a strategy to push back the Soviets. I fear they will go atomic soon.

Hey, everyone.

Great scenario. I recently picked up CIV3: Conquests and this was the first scenario I tried.

I have a few questions. First, are granaries useful? I am playing as Britain right now, and does it make sense for me to build them?

Second, what is the best way to deal with German air superiority over the North Sea? My fleet candle handle the German fleet, but when air forces get involved, it's iffy. (I lost all three of my aircraft carriers to submarine attacks!)

And, finally, my Mediteranean Fleet is taking a pounding. The Italians have air + superior numbers. I have retreated all my Eastern Med fleet to Alexandria and my Western Med fleet is wating nearing Gibraltar for reinforcements I'm sending from up North. Should I just hold my location?

Thanks! I look forward to playing this scenario for a long time to come as all the nations!

edit: also, is it true that building airports/harbors is useless for trading purposes?

Howdy Rocoteh,

what do you think about some Special-Fortress-Units around the British coast as you did in earlyer versions? This would force the human-player to use the Luftwaffe before he/she could land on the british isles.
we all know that hitler needed air-superiority before he could conquer Great Britain. In Civ3 you can do that without that.Adding this units around the coast would simulate the "Battle of Britain".

Week 38:
Dunedin taken. Also there was shot down a defending plane of Christchurch. I also landed my troops on New Caldonia hoping to eliminate the French in 2 turns.
Also I launchenched my forces to attach the US: 590 units are now en route. Additionally I sent my North Atlantic Fleets to America.. I will attack them at new York and hope to attack and take as much cities as possible in the very first turn and to take then a strong defence position to cope with the large expected counter strike.
BTW in week 37 nothing happeend.

PC turn:
Nothing happens.

Week 39:
New BB: Mauve

I conquered Christchurch and because of that all of South New Sealand is mine. There also a part of the Royal Navy was destroyed.

PC turn:
Nothing happens.

Week 40:
New Caledonia is mine, eliminating the French. Also Wellington is mine. And the fighter guarding Auckland was shot down.

Week 41: Nothing happened.

Week 42:
Auckland is taken after an amphibious assault. As I have now copmlete New Zealand, I will give th fleet here a small rest, as BB Bismarck is damaged. Although she destroyed numerous units by fight and bombarding, here at Auckland a CL, she is still not elite.
However the Royal Navy is history. Only America, the islands in the Atlantic near to it, and Hawai'i are not mine resp. under Axis control. Oh, not quite correct, since the US do still posess the Salomons.
I just remarked my fleet, supporting the following TR, is just in range of the US territory. So I decided to make attack runs with my Ju 87 to take revenge for the US bombing runs. At Boston and Philadelphia two US fighters were shot down each. And several US marines and a paratrooper fell victim of my bombers. No own losses, but a few planes are elite now.

Perhaps I should give now current status of the three remaining main parties. As the Japanese have shown now limited offensive actions I only show the statistics of Germany, UK, USA.

Britain has still a powerful army and a strong air force, but no more ships. The US have still a small navy, nothing I can´t handle, but still a huge army and a big air force. It won´t be easy, nevertheless I think I can hit the US fast. I hope due to the spying missions to take all of the North East quater of the US in the first turns. Beat them hard and fast!

PC turn:
Brazil is history as Argentina captured a Sao Paulo and razed Rio.
Heavy air strikes on my fleets of North America. 6 US and two British bombers were shot down by my fighters, 4 more by FlaK. One bomber came through but did not hit.

Week 41:
Ouch!!! St. John is defended by over 100 planes and 25 infantry units. And I have 6 land units and a fw carrier. However I will siege the city. To provoke a British attack I landed my troops on the island and bombed the city.
Also New York bombed and several planes destroyed there.

PC turn: Over my ships in the Atlantic heavy fighting in the air. One enemy bomber came through only to hit nothing. 6 were shot down by my fighter and 5 were destroyed by FlaK.
Also the Japanese bombed again Guadalcanal.

Week 42:
Heavy dogfights over St. John. I lost a FW 190 and a Ju 87 but over thirty enemy planes were destroyed.
Over the US also heavy dogfights. 8:1 for me. Only a FW 190 downed. Also enemy units hit at the beach. The next turn will be the decisive one.

PC turn:
3 British planes were shot down by Flak, three other by fighters. Also British KGV appeared off New foundland to attack my invasion forces.

Week 43 part 1:
I took the Solom islands.

UK Demigod -- At week 8 of 1940

Current situation:

Most of interior France is under German control. I am terrified of what might happen if the Germans take an Atlantic naval base or Med naval base and pump out U-boats.

London is packed with flak and Spitfires/Hurricanes. 74 ships -- including 2 top of the line King George V Class Battleships and 8 lower class BB's are fortified in the North Sea. The American battleship Colorado is in the English channel, along with several lesser vessels of mine and Americas. Within the next few months, I hope to gain total air/naval superiority in the North Sea and in the English Channel.

My Canadian forces are massing in Halifax, and I will ship them to Africa soon in order to reinforce my African possession. My situation in Africa is, to say the least, precarious. The Italians are sending motorized infantry divisions through Egypt into Arabia/Iraq. I don't have the necessary forces to stop them. Once I take Ethiopia (I have the BB Ramilles and a Heavy Cruiser near Aden ready to provide naval support), I will launch an all out assault on Libya, depriving Italy of its only source of oil.

The Japanese, mercifully, are quiet. Hong Kong is being bombed, but other than that, no movement. My Australian forces are massed on the Australian coast near Port Moresby. My Pacific naval forces are minimal. I'm banking on the US coming to the rescue should Japan try to invade Australia. I have more or less given up on Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. If the Japanese decide to take them, it would be a waste of my resources to defend. I will mass my army in Australia and in NE India. I will hold the Japanese there while the Americans push in from the East.

Any suggestions? Am I leading the British Empire to destruction?

I think if you aren't totally unskilled it won't be difficult to handle any problems, the game is mainly based on a human germany a ai-germany is often a disaster, just look the mass of land you control :D

So is the scenario generally more fun if I play as Germany?

Yeah,I'd say so,the reports of players who took Britan,USA or Russia allways seeme to be "very easy". I have alo tried many nations but germany is the best i think :)

No, Italy is more fun.:mischief: Germany is interesting but they get nearly all of the very best units...other then an early war with the soviets AND the allies Germany is just an excercise in whupping tushie. Not that that isn't fun, mind you. ;) France is fun but a real struggle. Japan is VERY fun, one of the best! What can I say, try them all and decide for yourself.

Week 45 part 2 (there must be an error somewhere, I am now in week 45:

Das Oberkommando der Wehrmacht gibt bekannt:
In the evening of Sunday November 1st the shelling of ew York ended. Many units were driven to New York to defend the city. That was crucial! The German fleet left the area to Boston. On the morning hours of Monday, 02.11.42, the fleet shelled the city. Additionally the Stukas of the escort carrier raided the city destroying the defenders. So the fall of Boston, Massachusetts, was ease. Germany has a base in the US!
Because of that our Panzer are rolling through North America. Resistance is heavy but in no way really successful and so the losses are light. So Augusta, Montpelier, New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Richmont were taken.
Also the siege of St. Johns continue. 12 enemy planes were destroyed there. Additionally a British KGV class BB, en route to bomb the landing forces was sunk by Uboats. 6 Uboats lost.

To be continued.

Hey guys. I don't know if this has been tried yet. I take it that city razing has been a big problem in this scenario. Now I know that in a city, every citizen requires atleast one military unit to keep him/her in control. Now a lot of the cities are fairly large thus requiring large numbers of units to remove resistance. What if we just increase the citizen:military ratio from 1:1 to let's say 10:1. This can be done in the editor in the difficulty settings option. This way the AI won't require to many units to quell the resistors and might refrain from razing cities. I haven't tried it myself, but thought you guys might be willing to try it. Let me know if anyone does.

Good idea. I will try it the next game I start.
However I do have to report two more bugs. I took Canberra and Washington to have trade connections. But doing so the icon disappeared and I don´t have it. They must be here not in a great wonder but a small wonder.
Also last turn my Me 262 were successfully defending my fleet, being the first victory of that kind of fighters.

I was playing for germany , I think that's not that cool , 1st reason is everybody choose Germany , and it seems to be much easier than others countries , but it's fun to start a game with a war with almost all the countries in the game and conquer them all .

I'd a problem with the Civ again , I was playing for the British . It was pretty hard in the start untill' you understand everything . Now I'm going to play as the French Future Emperor :) , hope that will be a good challenge to go againts Germany and Italy that very close to France . I took a lood on Bob's reports and I saw that the Russians are rushing the germany too , and then they like to conquer everybody they want to , so beside Germany and Italy I'll have to compete with russians too .

Good Luck , If it'll be too easy or too boring , I guess I'll go for the Japanese after my French try .

I had the same problem with exactly the same cities (+Toronto). On the one hand this is frustrating but on the other hand it adds to the difficulties of an US or Australian invasion. I wasn't able to take any US or GB Wonders on the North American continent (not a whole lot to begin with) so far. When one is poised to invade the US or Australia then the scenario is almost over anyways :mischief:
