WW2-Global

Rocoteh, I thought about some change for starting with the US , maybe I'm wrong but I'll try anyway ..

When starting with USA, the year is 1939 and as I know ( maybe I'm wrong ) the US army got into war after the Japanese heavy attacked Pearl Harbor , It was 1941 and then they got into the war after Returning-Fire on the Japenese, because of this they had war with their alliances . what I mean is that USA enter to the WWII in 1941 , so it'll be more interesting if the start with USA will be at 1941 ( with conquered european cities by the germans of course ) .

Tell me if I wrong ( sorry again , my english is'nt that good )

goodsmell,

As mentioned earlier its a system-problem.

The only alternative is to that US starts neutral.
Then it will be 50/50 that US enter the war on the Axis side!

More answers on posts later today.

Week 2 PC turn:

The US sent about 50 infantry and cavalry over the German Mexican border to Texas. With them I can handle! Also the Marines near New rleans splitted their forces. One half can now be attacked by my units as they left the jungle. In the North some British units passed the border.

Luthor Saxburg,

Thank you for your comments.
I will have them in mind with regard to the next version.

On Radar Towers: They are available from start.

On separated techs:

The problem is how AI should handle this.

Rocoteh

Adler,

Thank you for the reports and comments.

"2. The British and US infantry has a movement of two. Why?"
Adler

Good question.
The reason is that US and Britain (only) had all their infantry divisions motorized. Furthermore US using the "pooling-system" had at least
one armored battalion attached to all infantry
divisions.

On dropping of mines by air:

Interesting idea. The problem is if AI will be able to use it.

On the playtest:

US-AI have performed not very good. I am surprised by Britain though.
Much better then I expected.

Interesting that you have built such a huge airforce.
It seems to have worked very well!

I saw that you will focus on other scenarios for some time.
Thank you for the very interesting reports from your playtest.

I have read them all with great interest!

Welcome back.

Rocoteh

I will be back tomorrow with more answers on posts.

Week 3:
Prince Albert, Great Falls, San Diego, LA and Wolf Bay taken. Havanna shelled and bombed. Also the enemies in my territory were destroyed. I am attacking other cities and since I am now up to 69 % land mass controlled by my allies and me, I think I will win next turn.

PC turn:
Only a few enemy moves, nothing too worry.

Week 4:
Heavy air strikes on US forces trying to start an offensive over Mexico. I destroyed at least 70 units, but much more are coming. These forces must be the units protecting Panama and the remains of Brazil. However my Luftwaffe can deal with them so I do not need to stop my offensives.
Havanna, Fresno and San Francisco are mine. I also arrived at Hawai'i only to see the Japanese there! Bad luck for me.
I can see also US and apanese ships off my coast, but my intelligence servive says everything okay. If not, Canaris can find a new job- in Sibiria!

PC turn:
Some enemy movements but nothing worth to be mentioned.

Week 5 1943:

Finally won!!! 326 hours, 6 minutes, 22 seconds= 13 d 14 h 6 m 22 s!

I will not play it any longer. I am tired to play it for this moment. However I will stay here and post remarks on the discussion, only, for a while, I won´t post play test reports here.
But that does not mean, I won´t play it later...

Adler

yeah, great you finnished this one.
you can take a break, sit back and relaxe now ;-)

Aloha,

I just realized that my Pz IV F2 units can traverse mountains and jungles etc ... was that intentional?

Drushba

Adler,

Thank you for the report.

Congratulations!!!

"Rocoteh, yes I will have a new focus on AoI. However this does not mean I will stay away here"
Adler

I very glad to hear that. Your comments are always interesting.

Welcome back.

Baldurslayer,

No its a bug.

Thank you for reporting it.

Rocoteh

imgrumpy,

Thank you for the report.

Your playtest as Italy seems to go well.

I am looking forward to hear how it ended.
Welcome back.

Rocoteh

Bob1475,

Thank you for the reports.

Its obvious that Germany-AI not can manage to inflict any
heavy damage on Soviet.
In the fall I will make several special AI-versions.
One of them will be for human US versus Axis-AI.

Here both Germany, Italy and Japan will be much stronger.
Focus will be on faster production.

On the playtest:

It looks like Japan has great problems with the defence of its
home islands. Its interesting though they managed to knock out
Communist-China.

I guess the real challenge in this playtest is how to deal with Soviet!

Thank you and welcome back.

Rocoteh

jlocke,

Thank you for the reports.

For some reason playtests with Japan are not common although
it should be a real challenge since there are many ways to go and
options to use.

I am looking forward to hear how this playtest turned out and your
comments on it.

Welcome back.

Rocoteh

Luthor Saxburg,

Thank you for the report.

Seems like you have had a good start for your playtest as Germany.

Will you go for Russia after The Fall of France?

Welcome back.

Howdy Rocoteh,

what do you think about some Special-Fortress-Units around the British coast as you did in earlyer versions? This would force the human-player to use the Luftwaffe before he/she could land on the british isles.
we all know that hitler needed air-superiority before he could conquer Great Britain. In Civ3 you can do that without that.Adding this units around the coast would simulate the "Battle of Britain".

Vericitas

Vericitas,

Yes I will consider this for the next version.
No decision yet.

I am seriously hoping this works, cause then Rocoteh won't have to create wonders for each city. That'll cut his work and reduce the loading time a bit.

eaglefox,

I also hope it will work.

Looking forward to hear how it turns out.

I think Rocoteh should make a Global multi-player version again -- like he did with v1.0. That would take away the stupid AI involvement. We had some fun PBEM games with the old one. :)

WVCivnut,

Its a good idea!

Its possible I will make such a version in the fall.

In 2.3 I would like to see the German Nebelwerfer and the Russian Katyusha. They were very important artillery units.

And thanks Adler17 for the save game, I did get it to work!

Hubschrauber,

Notes have been taken.

Its possible I will include them with 2.3 or after the graphic update.

So I started a game as UK, which I've never played before, and it is umm, interesting. Just unbelieveable amounts of infrastructore to do, it's just a mountain to climb. This is the first country in this scenario I've played where I actually had choices as to where to put the hidden/forbidden palaces; where do you all think would be best for them to go? I put the hidden in central India, and forbidden in Sydney, but there are certainly other viable locations. Any opinions on that?

Sasebo,

Yes playing UK should really result in many options.

In the fall I plan to make a special AI-version for UK play versus Axis-AI.
