Is "our mutual military assistance" diplomatic modifier too weak?

Good gosh golly gracious! I never thought I'd see real world history being defined in Civ4 terms.

    Healing reputation

Even if they're at war with the civ you betrayed, you still take a hit. Note that when you bribe a civ to go to war against another civ, the former will forever be advised as "We know Civ1 has betrayed our friends Civ2" even if you bribed them to go to war aganist Civ2. It's the same with...

If the World Worked Like Civ III...

    - No matter your representative government, salaries will always be 1 gold per unit. - However, communal and despotic governments would not pay their workers. - There are no children. People just pop out of the granary when it's full. - Factories and plants are the sole sources of...

The true cost of worker stacking

Er, I'm not sure I get you. What I said and what you said mean the same thing to me. I don't see how one is more precise than the other. You misunderstood. I was not talking about the worker turns themselves at this point, but referring to the "answer" or "rule" by which to follow when...

    AI doesn't take rep hits?

I can see why this would be fun against or with a human opponent, but the AI would not care either way, right? We get a kick out of seeing a particular civ we hate mad as hell, but I doubt a computer would care about our feelings, except as a possible detriment to trade.

Do you capture or raze cities?

Border cities which are one tile away from my city get razed, except if they have wonders. Cities which have access to a luxury or a resource get captured, no matter what. Cities with Wonders get captured, except if the wonder is obsolete. Capital Cities are always captured, because I get a kick...

    AI doesn't take rep hits?

Zakharov has it. You are a human player; why should the computer make your opinions for you? If you think this AI is suspicious, you get to refuse to deal with him or even blockade him. But if you need the lux, you can make a deal even if that AI has broken twenty deals. It's all up to you.

Just got Civilization... now what :D

You might want to try all the civs before going up a level. It's a bit obvious, but some civs are harder to play than others; I can go all the way to a Monarch conquest blitz using Japan or China, but can barely clear Regent using America or Germany.

The true cost of worker stacking

I believe we can sum it all up in this; stacking workers is a gamble on a case by case basis. Like real life (and chess), linear mathematics do not work - there will be times when one is better than the other. When to choose one way or the other isn't as difficult rocket science, but it's...

    "Our troops approach your cities..."

Actually, that's what I meant. The Babylonians gave up their Fur base for peace and some GPT after I beat them to only five cities. That was last night and my save is way past that point. The Babylonians are already dead, even in the earliest of my saves.

    Forced Broken Trade

Ditto. I mean, the English are no longer considered scum by most Americans even though it's only been two hundred years since they were at war. Why should a bad rep last six thousand years? If this was real life, the Russians would have hated you because you ruined their plan. Their plan...

Crazy Reasons For Going To War

I went into war with the Babylonians because I was bored, bored, bored of playing the peacekeeper as the French.

    Best Ground Unit

Artillery - It's the gamebreaker in almost every game. Settlers - In a war, having ten settlers in the attacking stack will guarantee that you have a new base within the same couple of turns that you raze an enemy city. Hurry a defensive unit, and move your army two tiles, and you can get to...

    "Our troops approach your cities..."

I disagree. The Babylonians gave Ellipi (sp?) to me when they were losing, even though it was their only supply of Fur. That was on Regent.

    The worst unit overall

The worst Unit overall in the context that they come out, at least in classic Civ3, is the Helicopter and Paratrooper. I can still use the explorer, especially in HUGE maps, and I just rush an airport if I ever needed to airlift tanks to another continent. In an archepelago map, I actually...
