For someone who hated Civ5, is that worth the buy?

I was not a big fan of V and I also play IV occasionally and consider it (IV) the far superior game of the two having played all of the V expansions. That said, I've enjoyed BE so far although I'd say it has many of the same "features" that annoyed me in V. The highlights so far are that the...

Is petroleum used as rocket fuel, or am I missing something?

Rocket fuel is generally composed of kerosene, which is a petroleum product. So yes, petroleum was probably introduced to reflect this fact. There of course exists other rocket fuels but I'm assuming this is what the game is trying to reflect.

Covert Ops - Siphon energy is game breakingly unbalanced

Marathon is broken in many ways. As far as workers and explorers go, until you get miasma immunity it takes a ridiculous amount of time to mount expeditions or create improvements when you need to heal from 10/100 several times over because it takes such a massive amount of turns to build the...

If I'm friendly to the aliens, then kill one of them...

Killing them will not instantly remove the blue status. I had to kill maybe 8 or 10 or so before they turned green again. Never did regain the blue status though even after quite some turns afterwards (although I killed more aliens after the first 8-10) so I just killed the nest and built a well...

An easy way around the Familiar Exotics quest and how to complete it all the time

Xenodrome requires 3 geothermal. I don't know about you but that resource is notoriously annoying for me to find.

Tip: Harmony is with Planet, not necessarily the Aliens...

Are you sure that this is true? I could have sworn that I didn't actually get the 10 xenomass that my alien nest supposedly provided even though all the aliens had turned teal(friendly).

    Friendly Aliens

Are all aliens friendly once you befriend a nest, or just the ones connected to that particular nest? Also, how are you supposed to befriend the aliens? In the game I played last night, the first nest I found had 7 aliens around it instantly attacking anything I sent in that direction...

    Strategy for Domination Civs

Early game is pretty much always about hooking up as many :) resources as possible(your capital always starts with at least 2 different :) resources in range). So your priority should be about finding a good second location with :) resources that your capital does not already have. You need...

    The European Landmass

I tried this map a couple of days ago and while the map itself is beautiful, there are some glaring flaws: The map is *huuuge* compared to the number of civs and city states. As Arabia, it took me 100 turns of 3 scouts and 1 warrior to find my third city state. All the strategic resources...

    Shiggs Earth

I would just like to point out that it feels like you only added the "famous" rivers and as a result, some areas look really bland and "lifeless"(Scandinavia, Siberia, western Europe, etc.). Adding a bunch more of the not so famous or super long rivers would not only make the world look a lot...

Incas are amazing for both economy and warmongering

The terrace farm is totally awesome on maps/areas where there are a lot of hills adjacent to mountains. For each mountain tile adjacent to the farm you get another food. Yes, that means that if you have 5 adjacent mountain tiles, the tile will be worth 6 food and 2 production(!). And even if...

Conquering a city and then losing it to a 3rd civ while in revolt

You keep conquering cities, that way their borders disappear. ;) Not sure if that's the only way though, but if nothing else having a great artist and creating a great work should help deal with those pesky border pushes.

    Observations on Huge/Marathon

Kesshi, I think you are confusing expansive and imperialistic since expansive gets a production bonus to workers while imperialistic is the one that gets the bonus to settlers. Edit: Even then however, having a production boost to workers on a huge map is definitely something worthwhile.
