Not useful to your situation, but what was your number of city states/number of AI set up? I like the spread of territory on your mini map, would be cool to try for myself :D
Of course pretty much everyone is aware that you can gift city states units to aid them in war without declaring war yourself, but I'm a little confused. Granted, when I've gifted them units previously, I've found them using them in battle and actually managing to make good use of them in many...
The French are on my team, set up in the advanced options section of game setup. This means it is a permanent alliance of sorts? I suppose I might be able to trade for the city eventually, but I've tried once and he denied, it's a long shot... And I do have military units, I just pretty much had...
Is it possible to win a cultural victory with just one city? Also, I have attempted the 1CC a few times but I found it very easy to defend myself. Focus any and all military units on defense - always have one garrisoned unit to the best technology available in your city, plus walls, castles...
See screenshot below. Basically, just as I am about to build my second city, the stupid teammate French AI (3vs3) decides to build a 'parasite' city right next to my capital, sapping my precious resources. I do like the map and seed, however. Is it worth continuing do you guys think?
Mechanized infantry =/= APC.
The difference between IFVs and APCs is pretty minute - the only reasonable difference is the armament, and considering that the Mechanized Infantry already has an attack on par with the tank, I think pushing it any higher would be infeasible.
You don't load units onto ships anymore - once you have researched the prerequisite tech (Optics I believe) you can send the settler or any other unit directly across the water, however until you research a later tech you are confined to sea tiles rather than ocean tiles.
Focus more of your cities on sea unit production? If you can gain naval superiority, you can easily make your landings. Depending on what age you are in, air units would be a good move. I've found late-game naval bombarding to be pretty effective too.
Not sure where else to put this, it's not a technical complaint by all means, it affects my game minutely and it was actually pretty hilarious. It seems Russia's longswordsmen and cattle have mastered the art of floating admist my empire?
