    Realism Invictus

Problem solved - where was key. I forgot that I had picked up the Steam copy of Civ 4 in 2018, and I have Steam and non-Steam Civ 4 BTS folders in the C drive. So I was installing Realism Invictus to the non-Steam Civ 4 BTS folder, which of course resulted in massive problems when turning on...

    Realism Invictus

I originally downloaded and played Realism Invictus in early 2017 and put a lot of time in the Medieval world scenario. I wanted to start playing again and have run into an issue after downloading 3.4 that I had never previously encountered. When the game starts to load, once I reach the...

US unemployment rate drops to 8.5%, lowest in 3 years

The problem with this is that if you add all these things into "real unemployment" during a time when things are going well, like the 1990s or something, then "real unemployment" would be something like 10% even then. Because there is always a significant number of people not counted in the...

US unemployment rate drops to 8.5%, lowest in 3 years

You realize these things weren't counted in unemployment 2002 either. Or 1992. Or 1982. Or 1972. Etc. This is okay news, everybody understands the caveats that come with today's employment report.

US unemployment rate drops to 8.5%, lowest in 3 years

That's all, only for people who can't read. According to the Household Survey used to measure the unemployment rate, 50,000 workers dropped out of the work force compared to the 176,000 hired. That was much better than November's ratio, which was a much more disappointing 50-50 on dropouts/hires.

Retail hiring was +181,000 in December. Actually, Holiday retail hiring as a whole returned to 2006 levels this year. It was seasonally adjusted down to +28,000 in the report.

If you plan on doing so in order to gain insights into Winston Churchill, then go for it. Amazon probably has them all, and most decent sized libraries should as well. If you want to read Churchill on WWII in order to learn about WWII, I suggest you don't do it.

Grant - Jean Edward Smith. Makes a compelling argument that Grant was superior to Lee, and an even more compelling argument that the historical perception of Grant's presidency has been negatively skewed by southern historians that disliked him for his pro-civil rights stands.

US unemployment rate falls to 8.6%

No, if it was seasonal it would have said +494,000 jobs instead of +120,000. As I explained 7 posts ago. And the Republican impeachment of President Obama would have successfully begun yesterday morning, as every competent American economist figures out within 5 minutes of the BLS announcement...

US unemployment rate falls to 8.6%

Fact of the matter is that if enough discouraged people who are unemployed have stopped actually looking for work, then US unemployment can go down. The technical definition of the unemployed in the economics profession does not include people that have stopped looking for work. So the reason...

US unemployment rate falls to 8.6%

If you really want to know, the seasonal adjustments had November retail hiring at +50,000. But the actual number of November retail hiring was +424,000. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t17.htm So if the Obama Administration wanted to lie about the numbers, then they should have...
