OpenCiv1 Project - Open source rewrite of the original Civilization 1 Game designed by Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley in year 1991

ICS stands for infinite City Sprawl, where the cites are founded right next to each other or one space apart. The idea is that each city works its central square for free, so if you keep cities at Size 1 and build a Settler as soon as it gets to Size 2, you can rapidly increase the number of...

OpenCiv1 Project - Open source rewrite of the original Civilization 1 Game designed by Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley in year 1991

I love that this is being done. I hope it can be coded in a way that leaves the possibility of later adding options that would eliminate some player exploits and AI cheats. Off the top of my head P!) It should not be possible to pay cash for hammers and then switch production to something where...

It works now. I didn't realize you can and need to start a game from the mods window.

Destination location: C:\Users\dvdav\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS Civilization V path C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V Selected components: Full Version (EUI) Those seem to be the right folders.

I accepted the default for both the re-install of Civ V and of VP. I'm repeating that now, reading what VP wants to do more carefully. It says it wants to install in the docs/.../MODS folder, but in the program files tree. I assume that's correct and will continue.

    Quick Questions / Quick Answers

No, Eventually Back is the only choice. I clicked Next, which loaded the mods and gave me a window with 2 keys and Back was the only choice. Then Back or Next are available again, but Next just loads again the mods that are already loaded and takes me to the same confirmation window, where Back...

    Quick Questions / Quick Answers

It's still the old Civilopedia. In the Mods screen, the mods show that they're loaded, but all they're doing (or the dll is doing) is messing up the top bar.

    Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Is there a troubleshooting thread? If not, maybe someone can point me in the right direction here. I just installed VP and still see the BNW tech tree, Civilopedia, Policy Tree, etc. I uninstalled Civ V, deleted all my user data and tried again; same thing. I did not click Back in the Mods...

    Comprehensive reference (Updated manual?) anywhere?

Is there anywhere on this site or any other, where the current rules of the game are laid out in at least as much detail as in the vanilla manual? More formulas than the manual has would be better, of course. I'm about to give Civ VI my third try. I've played several hundred hours, first...

As Germany, does settling next to a barbarian encampment (and thereby clearing it) get?

It took a while for the rust to come off my memory. This text from Zigzagal, based on what I discovered a few years ago which in turn was partly based on what folks wrote in this forum and/or MegaBearsFan and/or Carl's Guides is correct:: "Don't worry about entering an empty Barbarian encampment...

[BNW] Single Player: When do AI civs start the game hostile?

Most of the games I've played have been Deity. I don't recall anyone being hostile the moment I met them. Now I stepped down to Emperor to try different styles. I'm playing Zulu, which I sometimes have on Deity. I met Greece very early and they're immediately hostile. Is this a Zulu thing? A...

As Germany, does settling next to a barbarian encampment (and thereby clearing it) get?

A few years ago, Zigzagzigal knew less about this than some other folks (maybe some here, maybe elsewhere) and I pointed out to him what those others had said, seemingly correctly, and he partially updated the guide. So though his guides are great (for multiplayer or for Emperor and below...

As Germany, does settling next to a barbarian encampment (and thereby clearing it) get?

Sometimes you never kill a unit inside the camp. It's lured away to capture a civilian unit and never gets back.

As Germany, does settling next to a barbarian encampment (and thereby clearing it) get?

I'm pretty sure that's not true. If you kill the camp unit with an archer, then you kill a different barbarian elsewhere, and finally you walk into the camp, don't you get the latter unit?

As Germany, does settling next to a barbarian encampment (and thereby clearing it) get?

I know walking into an empty encampment gives you a 2/3 chance of getting the last barb unit you killed. (You can have killed that unit anywhere on the map; it doesn't have to be the one from that encampment.) So really I have two questions. Does clearing an encampment by making it part of...
