Isn't this only while defending? Archers should get a bonus when they attack from a hill to a flatland as well. Melee units have to run down the hill to fight on the same terrain as the defending units; so shouldn't get that bonus -- but archers can shoot from up here more effectively than...
This doesn't seem right. In real god games like SimCity where you know about and control many of the attributes of the entire environment, you are god. In this game you know only about your civ and what your civ discovers. You are a civ leader -- not god, I think.

Sometimes I'll see a blue circle right on the edge of the dark area I haven't explored indicating there's something good just beyond. Doesn't mean I'll settle in the blue circle, but it makes me explore to see what's there first.

Thanks -- those responses clarify the power thing for me. Including that my initial question was off base some. The Electricity tech doesn't supply power. I think I was confused there because the Factory suggests a bonus with <lightening bolt icon> which I now think menas Power, not...
The cost of a Coal Plant is the :hammers: spent of course and also two unhappy points . The only gain is that it powers my factory. What does that mean? The factory doesn't provide extra :hammers: without power? The description of the Electricity tech says it will provide power...
You seem pretty sure that our world isn't 3D. Couldn't it be that our perception is limited by the Civ coordinate system? Have you ever been to -2147483647:-2147483647? I was there once(using a 64 bit processor -- a 32 bit processor gets confused by the minus sign :scan: ) and didn't see any...
Exactly how I'm using a Golden Age in my current game. I had a Great Scientist waiting in the wings for a buddy to trigger a Golden Age. Then I finished research on Fusion which gave me a Great Engineer. At that moment, I had four large cities working on the last four parts for the spaceship...
When combined arms was mentioned I was thinking of that applying to the attackers. In my current war against Isabella (it's always her first), I see she has some archers and some musketmen in her cities. So, I trained all of my redcoats against archers and ALSO against gunpowder. Now she...
I just started my first Noble on a Standard sized Continents map. It's a pretty nice start actually having my own continent (now that I've cleared out the barbarians) with room for 7 or 8 cities; stone near my starting city; horses near my next; elephants; spices; copper and other good stuff...
A thing I noticed just by accident is that, when you scroll all the way out, you can see the map as a globe and turn the globe to see other parts of the world. Of course this applys only to global maps as has been mentioned.

I know it can be frustrating when the automated bad guys keep pounding on you like a bully. Hopefully we can learn from frustration. The ideas triggered from this thread you started should help a lot. I had also discovered that the stream of barbarians were coming from a city just outside of...
Hi - I just joined your group here and hope to find some good strategy tips. I started with CIV3 and just started with CIV4 after my son installed his Christmas present.
BD - using strategy of buying my son a game we can both play :)
