    Are Golden ages worth it?

One good use for a GA is to win the space race.

    Balancing the Traits

It is way too early to tell. AFAIK civics cost a lot more on higher difficulty levels, maybe organized is really good there. As for spiritual, one of the unmentioned additional advantages is that you have a shot at an early religion.

    Organized and the Big Picture

Might be better on higher difficulties.

    Sulla's Civilization IV Walkthrough

Nice introductory walkthrough. A couple of questions: 1. Is the game reasonally balanced? Between traits/factions? Between the main core strategies conqueror/builder? Is it easy to be shafted with a poor starting location? 2. How hard is the game? What difficulty evel can you usually...

    Koera

Commercial and Scientific are both very good traits. I would play them often except I prefer the Greeks. The Greeks are my Sid pangaea civ of choice. Most people seem to prefer agricultural civs and on island maps seafaring is supreme, the koreans are neither. Lethal bombardment is very...

    The Great Library

Forbidden has been checking the back pages ;). I like the fact that the GL helps my OCC games (and other variants like always war), but on the whole I think it is bad for the game. On low levels it is quite useless, but on the highest levels it is way too powerful. I hate it that many games...

    Polution!

Slaves get the replaceable parts upgrade but they also get the industrious bonuses at his time? Also, slaves used to get the industrious bonus in Vanilla/PTW.

    Spaceship Help

Wealth is extremely inefficient, just build units and disband them in other cities to aid construction there instead, or use the units to add to your empire. In general, since the opponents are so handicapped one has to be self sufficient at the very low levels. On the other hand your...

    GPT Puzzle

To clarify what Ginger Ale said, you get the gold even if they cannot afford to pay it, it's magic. If you really want to find out where the gold is coming from then get a save game editor (like the Civ3MultiTool) and open the game there. You can then inspect Russia's deals.

    Stupid Universal Suffrage Question

According to this article: http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3/strategy/war_weariness.php it reduces unhappy people by 1 when you have war weariness, so pretty useless. I still build it though, mostly because I can and to cut off the chances of a Theory of Evolution spillover.

Annoying bug - ask for new orders after construction

I also advise not building wealth, it is more cost effective to build a unit and then disband it in another city to speed up production there, or just use the units for warfarre.

What is the most powerful civilization?

It depends. With a large land percentage I prefer Iroquois on lower levels and Greeks on higher levels. On water maps every seafaring civ trumps every non-seafaring civ, of these I prefer the English or Byzantines.

    Mandatory retirement....

No point in editing really as this will also disable scoring (not that score necessarily matters) . As previously mentioned you can continue playing as long as you want even if unedited. The easiest way to make sure you finish earlier is to play higher difficulty levels. The AIs will help...

    Civ 3 is awful

I agree that Civ3 was in many ways a step back from SMAC. Diplomacy options especially. However, on the whole I believe it to be an improvement. The main reason I prefer civ3 though is the challenge level, I still regularily lose on Sid, with SMAC I could win on transcendent before I discovered...

    Chieftan and Warlord Money Question

Yes, on Chieftain you are not penalized for having negative money, no problem really since this is a training level. However, on higher levels the penalty is only to lose one unit/improvement per turn regardless of the size of the deficit. This is a trivial penalty, logically it you ought to...
