As the map gets larger, the less likely the map will be fully settled. What do you think the best number of Civs and City-States should you have per map size?
Edit After reading some replies, I think XRW175P6MQ4 came up with a simple and elegant solution to the issue at hand. The cost of social policies should be inversely proportional to the size of the map.
I find that the bigger the map, the more space there is between the starting Civilizations...
I've played quite a few games where I have the following happened:
Pikemen before SpearmenInfantry before RiflemenNuclear Submarines before Submarines
For me, I think it isn't the greatest thing that you can spearhead your way far into the Tech Tree and start getting Units and Buildings...
If I am not counting all the time watching my new Allied CS beat the crap out of each other, it is definitely less than 10 seconds. I think in the future I am going to turn off Combat Animations.
Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. I've been playing Civ V Vanilla. I haven't tried yours yet but I've been greatly impressed with what I've see so far. I think I'm going to download it this Korean Thanksgiving weekend and give a spin.
Is there anyway to break Science based on population...
I like idea of your game changes that makes Civ V's structure more like Civ IV's. I feel that late into the game that most of the map is still bare because the punishes the player for expanding without conquest.
One thing I loved about Civ 4 was the balance you had to choose between economy...
After a few weeks of playing the game when it first came out I couldn't really enjoy it without Mods. Since I couldn't get any achievements with the Mods, I stopped playing.
After the Korean DLC, I started playing and a lot of improvements have been made to make the game much more enjoyable...
Trade Post without a doubt. +1 Gold with Economics, another +1 during a Golden Age and +1 Science if you are doing rationalism.
The farm will be at most +2 Food.
I'm usually a player who either starts off with Liberty or Tradition first. Liberty is probably a hold over from my Civ 4 days of the need for REX early on and Tradition is due my love of building tall.
I want to try a game of starting off with Honor. I am not hugely familiar with the...
For me, India would be a good place to start if you want to practice building Vertical Empires (a few cities with very large populations).
India gets some special bonuses for larger cities and the Unique Unit and Building are standard enough and don't require special strategies to use.
I hit 'Esc' to make it stop, but usually it doesn't stop until I get the son sits down. If I exit out and load again, it will stop before the old man stops talking.
I think Civ 5 just takes a long time to load. If your computer is a bit old, it may take the entire video to load up.
