I have recently purchased Civ5, latest edition. It worked fine for the first 5hours or so. Then when i reloaded my game, black lines started appearing across the screen. Sounds pretty good to me. You could beeline Civil Service/Machinery and get the jump on a weak teching civ. Also with your map choice/civ choice and leader traits the Colossus would be valuable. Taking into account that you will have to defend against more aggressive AI.

Environmentalism and Police state great late game civics. To avoid war weariness and :yuck: in cities post industrialism.
