    Megalopolis

I think it would be a better idea if towns planted could become extensions of cities after, for example, 50-100 turns as a town. The city should, in my opinion, allow the additional 4 squares to be worked when the city reaches like >25 population.

    Apeacement

Yeah. Recently in a gigantic map with a few civs (well actually duel map with 18 civs), I threw troops around and eliminated my entire religious block's enemies. Wiped out 2/3 of the civs and then entered a long peace, really.

    Artillery in Late Midgame

Natural defenses--usually the first 20% bonus you see in your capital--basically means that the people in the city are aiding those defending them. It happens either at the first border pop or the second border pop--I'm not exactly sure. A stack of cannons or artillery can make or break your...

    City self-destructed by itself.

That's interesting--I would more think that you capture like 3/4 of them but their health starts at 1/2... and do ships really get bounced to the next port? I could have sworn they're destroyed if you capture a city while they're in-port.

New To Civilization IV BTS: Question regarding resouce bonus

You should get the health/happiness bonuses regardless of if the tile is being actively worked. For the commerce, production, and food benefits of improving a tile, those are only active if the tile is being worked.

Problem attacking cities on island late game.

I'd say concentrate one city on making submarines, another city on making tactical nukes. In short, load all subs up prior to an attack with tactical nukes, then destroy his cities, invade, and destroy. Yes, nukes can kill units. Yes, it takes a good number to kill all units. After that, prance...

Best Way To Attack Heavily Railroaded Empires?

For against a human opponent... trick them by taking a single core city--coastal. Hit a hammer-rich city and you'll be set--they'll probably move to invade and may launch their own nukes as you, but keep your own stacks in a few groups. If you're first to get nukes, have fun using them...

    permanent alliance borders

That's normal. In short, the engine selects whose tile it is by which city "needs" it more. Some tiles are more favored than others--which is seen by how borders expand. You may be able to select that tile that is Ethiopian by opening up your city management and click on the blackened tile...

    Vassal states and victory conditions

50% of their land and their population count as yours. It counts for victory conditions, and the vassals will also have to vote for you in elections unless they themselves are up for election, at which time they may vote for themselves.

Best way to get lvl 6 unit without great general?

Stack of privateers is pretty good--get 10 or so if you can afford it--they'll be primarily to pillage any ships entering your territory. They also help beef up your spy defenses--if you start sinking caravels carrying spies, they have a harder time spying. Usually it's one large stack of...

    Why is Budica so stupid...

Keep her around to be your rifleman fodder, and future infantry fodder. Until then, keep racking up the promotions. Try to get some offensive promotions too--once you get an oil navy, you'll want to invade her and force her capitulation. She'll hate you though for razing her cities. If you want...

Best Way To Attack Heavily Railroaded Empires?

Usually I've followed a "crash-and-burn" method. Basically load up my navy a good bit with heavier ships. From there, enter their cultural borders by the sea. Bombard with all my might, then land a large invasion force in their city. Depending on how valuable it is to me and them, either keep or...

    Workers and automation

I usually turn on the automated networking--it saves plenty of time when the workers buil railroads &c. I also usually automate half the workers I capture in conquest--usually working the tiles I captured.

Best promotions for healing the stack.

I don't think you need a Shock promotion though... anyways--the easiest way to make a "medic" or an "ambulance" is to get an early scout promoted--if they can get 5XP from a goody, it's better. You want to send them "home", and when you get a general, attach it to that scout. If you select...
