TMIT has a runaway AI XML file that does that. His AI is designed to spam units and shamelessly tech whore, then strike when the enemy cannot possibly win.

I don't think isolated starts are that bad. Sure, I find the teching is much, much slower (took me until 2020 to win by space :cry:), but the AI can't do naval invasions for crap, so you can turtle and slowly crawl towards your chosen victory.

Because that's in their AI flavor, and the AIs are meant to roleplay. It's not because religion founding is optimal.

If you make the city grow more, you have more people to slave away, and slaving makes people happy! (It's not as crowded! WOOO!)

Uhhh, you might wanna check out the Strategy and Tips forums and guides on how to start or specific tricks and tips. Also, one thing to know... Civ isn't a RTS. It's a Turn-Based Strategy.

Well, instead of waiting for them to attack, and building MASSIVE garrisons to stop them, concentrate your forces and waste them with collateral as soon as they step into your land. Better yet, if you have the firepower, just wipe out the Russians.
