As more recent posters have described above I too am having only minimal success (~ 10%) starting scenarios from the main menu.
Guess I'll try the world builder thing.
Might be good to add this to the known issues section of the bug thread.

I'm having the same issue as Magister, I notice the new forests and jungles but plains and hills etc look the same. I tried moving the 10 .dds files in \art\terrain folder into \art\terrain\textures but I got a CtD. Am I doing something wrong or am I just not noticing the subtle differences
After playing with them for a bit I think the parmander needs some lovin, they just look a bit dorky at the moment with their round helmets, not quite up their with the crusader, diseased corpse ,etc and not what I would think an "earth based" religious zealot should look.
When playing Khazad I used the "force back" power of the Dwarven druid on some enemy units between the Druid and one of my cities. As the enemy units had nowhere to be forced back to (as this was on a penninsula) they were forced into my city, which was immediately captured by them, without a...
I got this same CTD haven't tried to recreate it though.
Also "declared war" automatically on my best ally after doing some tech trades with my next best friend.
Otherwise thouroughly enjoying the new build, keep up the great work.

I just hit W like in all the other civs and it seemed to work, the game moved to the next active unit then back to this one when all others were finished.
