He's talking unit production VS time it takes to research a tech though. I stopped playing Marathon in the fall because I'd get maybe a small handful of units before the Classical age was coming to an end.
Question, why doesn't the diversity of luxuries scale with map size? For example, 6 different types of luxuries on Standard, and 10 on Huge? Doesn't that make the most sense? I've been pondering this ever since Civ5 came out.
Secondly, I pray that luxuries will be sold for 80% of their...
We'll see how well it plays out. +1 happiness at no maintenance looks good on paper, but opportunity cost has always been the biggest thing to consider when it comes to building choices. When I see that library / colosseum / market staring me in the face, I'm probably going to choose to not...
God I hope you're right. Puppets (and how policy costs are worked) almost killed the game for me. I predicted mass puppet empires dominating back in the fall, and in my opinion they are *still* better than actually placed cities or annexed cities.
I just have to say... Sometimes removing a really strong strategy or two doesn't remove options, but opens up more. If there exists too strong of an option, you kill other weaker (but still viable) options. For example, when horsemen were overpowered, who needed the whole bottom of the tech...
I used one in conjunction with buying 2 tiles to take the Fountain of Youth away from a city state in a game recently. The resulting culture area looked hilarious.
I think this one's going to take a bit too long... What info didn't we get from 10 points that we'll get from 20?

I too am surprised that China didn't make the top 5. This is after the patch which gave them a much better Liberty tree, arguably their strongest starting tree.
Arabia:13
France:17
Greece:8
India:9
Japan:10
Persia:8
Rome:12
Russia:7
Siam:14

Really people, you got rid of China? The civ that was considered top tier in vanilla, got nerfed on all fronts, and is still one of the strongest? For shame! :)
Time for Russia to die. Increasing...
Opportunity cost is directly related to decision making. In every game that you are forced to make a decision, the opportunity cost is what you would have received had you did the other. Presented as a mathematical equation*, every decision has a negative effect which is just the opportunity...
Here's my ranking. I use some rules for mine. I rank civs that I think have a high volatility in how they use their abilities. My reasoning is that if you only had 1 chance with no restarts in a game, would you really consider an ability that might flop entirely? Nobody takes risks like...
