I start up the game and crank up the speakers and just let the main menu tribal music just flood the house :) Btw, anyone know what they are saying? I would be a little disturbed if they were incantations to some demon god or something.

Yep, the AI puts up a good fight in this game. My last game I am in second place even with a bad starting spot and only five cities. But the cities were awesome! So even with the fewer cities I am keeping up with the big guys. The AI's were fighting each other and pretty much leaving me alone...

Isn't science generated from commerce? Wouldn't that make the cottages important?

I think you should take a deep breath, Bello ;) First of all, it is a very small video. I ran the highest bandwith (700 kb) and it was still very fuzzy. I made it full screen and it was terrible. Had to watch it in the small screen. Compare watching a major action movie on a handheld device...
