I don't know what the first part means or if it is a typing mistake ...but just to clarify the discussion.
You can't skip slavery entirely, you are quite right. Its available sometimes within 20ish turns if you start with mining, and is somewhat useful when your population gets too big or you...
Wow, return of the living thread, anyone? Ha, ha sometimes I crack myself up.
Anyway, I might as well weigh seeing as how its been revived anyway.
I think epic is perfectly fine, and that it provides the best balance between fairness to the a.i and a slow pace that allows you to implement...
Hey everyone.
I always read alot of articles (I've lurked here a long time lol) where people are debating the mathematical advantages of whipping every certain amount of turns, how some players even keep slavery for as long as possible, and some articles which suggest slavery is almost too...
Wow, thanks for all the replies and suggestions folks.
I think I've learned a couple of things from all these replies.
1. It isn't necessarily bad to build barracks in your financial cities or libraries in your production cities, the reason I got confused I think was because firstly I read...
Hey everyone.
I'm not looking for an in depth guide for city specialization, as I understand the concept and have read the excellent article in the war academy section ... however here is my problem.
What do you build in your specialist cities when you have gap periods between buildings...
A wonder that always gets overlooked IMO is The Great Wall.
1. I HATE BARBARIANS - But I won't turn them off as that's dull. But lets face it, the buggers always ignore the AI and head strait for your borders, and they love doing it when you have no access to copper, Iron or Horses. So...
Hey everyone.
I was just wondering if anyone else was like me and is terrible at holding a grudge against a particular AI in a new game, because of what an AI did in a previous game.
Some examples from my recent games are:
In a Continents game I owned one entire (relatively small)...
I find Marathon almost always leads me down the road of Warmongering and the AI tends not to be able to cope.
The best IMO is Epic because, its slow enough that Units aren't obsolete almost immediately, but at the same time if your not quick and decisive with your wars you can fall behind...
Don't Raze. You can expand in the direction of Paris, and can be pretty sure your military can defend both it and new cities (just pump out more Praets and/or Archers).
I'd say 3 or 4 cities towards Paris and you might even be able to switch to representation, and even though you might not...
Hey everyone.
I used to play Continents because I thought it was the most fun. But after realizing that was because I was able to win every game (on Noble) as the AI is incapable of mounting any kind of successful sea invasion, I've decided to switch mainly to Pangaea, as I think its the next...
Hey everyone.
Its funny, I'm just after joining Civ Fanatics (after lurking for a long time) to ask the question of this thread.
I keep logging on Steam, looking at CIV V GOTY and just hovering over the purchase button. I can honestly say I've watched that trailer about 40 times lol...
