Haven't played on Immortal since vanilla and this looked like a really strong start so I thought I'd take a stab at it. Got a very messy T320 domination win.
My buddy and I both got Civ 4 Complete a while ago on Steam and recently decided to play some multiplayer. We started up an unmodded game and it worked fine. The next time around we decided to start a new game with BAT mod. OOS on turn one. This is on a fresh install. We both cleared cache...
Best strategy: build 1-4 production heavy cities that grab as many luxuries as possible. Sell luxuries. Get RAs. The game actually gets easier as you increase difficulty because AIs have enough cash to buy your luxuries.
I meant that I got a 2-4 happiness gain over the puppet city, not over the annexed city without a courthouse. I think pre-patch the courthouse only removed 5 unhappiness so you'd never gain happiness by annexing a city unless you kept it small. It made sense to keep all cities puppeted unless...
I'm not sure of the formula behind this, but I've noticed that annexing a large (size 7+) puppet city and then immediately buying a courthouse results in a net gain of 2-4 happiness.
I thought I'd heard that the gangbang mentality of the AI was going to be toned down in this patch, but it seems as strong as ever. If you expand too quickly you get the multi-denounce/DoW. If you're anywhere near a domination victory, same thing. If you are going for a domination victory, you...
Post patch: 100 turns into a game my 4 AI neighbors (two of which were friendly, two neutral) denounce me on the same turn. Next turn 2 declare war. :hmm:
Baseless speculation is all we have until the game comes out, but once it does come out, the best solution is to wait until somebody challenges the DLC with a nearly identical mod.
Err, sort of, with one minor caveat. If you're using cats/trebs there's a good chance they won't scratch Renaissance units. OTOH cannons seem to do well even against modern units. IMO steel is the critical war tech for the latter half of the game.
Nukes.
Cannons really are awesome and kossin's used them brilliantly in this game. There's a lot of mop up to do, but the game looks like it's in the bag with that much good land and tech parity.
My lazy version of the list: mining & agriculture in every start that's not coastal with seafood, in which case mining & fishing. Hunting gets priority over other food techs if there's no seafood or grains and there are other land animals around. Agri/wheel combo gets priority in the special...
If we're going to start the wild speculation game, here's my $0.02:
2 GB is decent for Civ 4. Most new computers ship with at least 3 GB and computers labeled as "gaming computers" ship with 4 GB. 4 GB gets tossed around a lot as a good amount for Win 7 so I'm guessing you'll want 4 GB RAM in...
