If you're first to get Industrialization (or anything that reveals a resource) then the CS allies you have won't get it until 50% of civs in the game have that tech. If you want it before then you have to go to the CS and Give a gift -> Improve resource

It's intentional - I think 50% of civs need the tech before the CS allies gain the tech. If you want it before then, you have to improve it for them using a gift.

Just improved on my 276 with a 262, this time opening Honor first and then going Tradition - Piety - Took 3 in Patronage - Freedom, Finished Patronage and Honor. Don't forget to send out explorers to grab all the ruins - I got loads of +1 population huts so that really helps with growth...

Just finished a 276-turn win. I imagine the winner will be under 250 as I don't have any DLC apart from G&K. Going to replay taking Honor instead of Liberty I think.

This looks fun! I've started a game with a nice desert start as a benchmark for further tries. I took Tradition first, but I think maybe opening Honor and then going tradition might be better, to get the huge boost in the early game. I'm going random opponents, but I might pick them next try...

How did you manage to get the army together without military allies? Presumably you had some as friends, but 10 allies AND some military friends? That's a hell of a start! And barringer by chance as well... :crazyeye:
