Is the Space Elevator worth it?

Well, the gambit isn't necessarily as large for me as it might be for the rival. After all, I'm just betting that one of my cities will produce before he does, and even if I lose I'll still get a small shot of cash for the effort. Don't get me wrong, it may not always be a good idea (and in many...

Is the Space Elevator worth it?

At least a couple times I felt the SE definitely helped my cause. In one situation, I invaded a diplomatically strong Gilgamesh who was closing in on a cultural win (hence, my need to deprive him of key culture cities). The assault led to DoWs and war with three civs, so I had to stay in full...

    Admitting defeat?

For some games, when I'm clearly going to win, I'll quit rather than play it all out. I'd rather move on to a new challenge, I suppose. However, if I've for some reason had a spectacular game, I will play it entirely. Maybe it's to see the final score, but I think more often it is to see how...

New Civ5 Preview on IGN (3/8/2010)

You're right, I know it. However, the experience wouldn't be complete unless I stress out about it daily until the game is released. *eye twitches*

New Civ5 Preview on IGN (3/8/2010)

Um, yeah. That's what I said ... FTA: "The first suspicions of a market-driven compromise are usually generated by the dreaded "A" word, accessibility. While it's true that some game systems, like religion and espionage, have been removed, fears that Civilization Revolution on the console has...

New Civ5 Preview on IGN (3/8/2010)

While, to some extent, you're right that technology spreads, the idea that it is rarely "stolen" is an erroneous notion. Arguably, that has never been more true than in more modern times, but the use of spies and informants has been important since the dawn of civilization itself. The ancient...

Can you spell the name of Inca leader and his UU correctly?

Huayna Capac is pronounced: Wahy-nah Kah-pahk (sounds like "Whiner Car-park" with a nasally toned Boston accent) Quechua is pronounced: Kech-wah (sounds like "Catch-one" said after 5 quick shots of bourbon) No, seriously ... those are the pronunciations. :crazyeye:

    Simple question about industrious trait

Industrious is just useful to warmongers in a different way than builders. For them, the cheap forges act as a production catalyst for the war machine, improving the rate at which new units can be constructed. What warmonger isn't interested in their industrial capacity, after all...

    I was reading wikipedia and...

Well, it's actually the "Boer War", and there were two of them. But you are right, the results of that war significantly affected the British army. Things they learned fighting against the Boers were translated into tactics used during WWI, not so many years later. It's interesting to note that...
