I'm just finishing the Exploration age (Deity, default settings), and I got to the attached yield numbers after conquering 6 settlements. 10 turns earlier, when I was within the settlement limit, I had drastically lower science and culture. Thus, I still think the optimal way to play is to start...
Valid points, Uppi.
This brings me to another (connected) thought: even at 15-20 settlements, is it too much in terms of fun? When it comes to strategizing/optimizing, as soon as you have about 10 settlements, you can already have 3-4 cities, some farming/fishing towns, and some specialty...
In my opinion, once you reach late exploration age, assuming you're playing well, you've already settled, built, improved, befriended, traded, etc. everything that brings a meaningful return on investment.
Thus, the meaningful optimal option from there is to invest in a large army and go well...
Right now, the optimal strategy is to ignore the settlement limit entirely by the time you reach the Exploration or Modern Age, ending up with 30, 40, or even 50+ settlements. This leads to a much more tedious late game and basically undoes many of the excellent changes Firaxis made to reduce...
Dear Civ players,
This is my first post ever on civfanatics, although I have been playing the series extensively since Civ 3 and although I'm a relativity good player (I beat deity in most games I play). I had to post this idea because I think that it could vastly improve the Civ gaming...
Congratulations on your victory too, any deity victory is not easy :goodjob:

Thanks ^^
I always play on default settings (settings that you get when you click on "default" button), that would be continents, small (6&12), temperate, normal speed, medium sea level, no victory or rule changing... Just change difficulty of course
I got Spain, had great luck to find...
Just wander how many people did it, cos i just did it (FINALLY) :king:
For me it was much more difficult than any other victory type...
Tried to see in hall of fame here but i'm not very familiar with it + i had to brag a little bit :goodjob:
After the fact that the AI is so dumb that it needs to get insane bonuses so that it can be able to fight with me, second thing that Civ5 lacks in my opinion are emotions between nations and leaders.
My ideas about how this could be improved:
Separate interests from emotions (if someone who is...

in this thread - http://www.civfanatics.com/civ5/difficulties
chart shows that AI does get a free settler on deity level
while in this thread - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=387484
chart shows that...
