Question: Razing the City with Manhatten Project...

If you raze a city while it's building the Wonder, the Wonder is still available for anyone to build. So unless you want to run around and destroy every city that ever starts building Manhattan, you have to deal with nukes eventually. I hate Nukes too, Dave.

what kind of style do you use?

I voted for "Attack early then peaceful" just above "Depends on the game". I generally attack when I have better units. This usually comes early, since I've generally found it's easier to beat other civs to resources in the early game than it is later on, when everyone has railroads...

    "Round" SG (Monarch)

That's the idea. A, B, and C are three different people. Each would essentially play the entire game, but with a "dimension shift" every 20 turns. Like parallel universes. The added information, and keeping it all straight, would add to the intrigue, I think. Kind of the butterfly...

    Open spots in succession games

Looking for two players to play a little different version--a "round" SG. Check it out at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19760

    Open spots in succession games

Bliz, Why don't you join me in a "Round" SG? I've also been playing for a while and looking for one of these games. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19760

    New Resources!!!

What are the new resources used for? Or are they luxuries?

    Marines

This has been interesting reading. I've never found any use for marines, nor feared them from my enemies. I can see now how they could be useful in some cases. But I'd rather build tanks. Haven't you guys ever seen Rambo? Panzers don't have a chance.

    Ranking the Unique Units

Having been on the wrong side of an attacking Legion of Legions, I can't believe they belong that low on the list. I agree with a lot of the comments that Panzer is overrated. I've never had any problems with the Germans. It's the same phenomenon as the F-15: new techs are coming faster...

    Advice Wanted

I'm guessing you're not trading enough. To keep up on Regent level, trading with other civs can be key. Especially if you find neighbors with different advances. For example, if you see Aztecs with Iron Working and Zulus with Horseback Riding when you don't have either. Pay Aztecs for Iron...

Help - need pointers for playing a domination/conquest game succesfully

I find it easier to crush enemies early on, because you can beat them to horses or iron. I especially like to move with swordsmen now that horsemen don't always retreat in 1.17. Go straight to ironworking and do whatever it takes to get a road to iron. Then crank out swordsmen as fast as...

    Deity keeps kicking my butt

Having the perfect starting position has been the only way I've found as well. But I'm not a great player, nor that patient. I won one game as Aztecs by playing on a small map. I re-started until I could put my capital in a garden spot. Then if you time it right, you can crank out one...

Poll: Which civ do you HATE the most (to play against)?

I don't mind civs declaring war. That's what the game is all about. It's the Babylonians that piss me off, because they always start on the other side of the world and out-culture me. Then it's always a race to see if I can reach some victory condition before they build their spaceship.

    what is best civ?

I used to like Persia before 1.17. Now that War Chariots can be upgraded, I think Egypt is the best. Religious is definitely the most powerful. Commercial is nearly worthless.

    "Round" SG (Monarch)

Maybe you're right, Ike. In principle, it's no more of a commitment than playing a single game, since everyone plays every turn. Would it be more enticing if it were shorter and easier? Regent Small Map Four Civs

    "Round" SG (Monarch)

I don't know if this has been tried before, but I would like to take a shot at a "round" SG (round in the spirit of "Three Blind Mice", not circular). I'm looking for two others to join me. The idea is that exactly the same game is played by the same three people, but the order is switched...
