While yes, theoretically, you could go 2-2-2 and pursue different UBs from different affinities - you are going to need a significant amount of research spread across lots of unrelated areas in the tech tree. Unless you are settling in for a very long game, it's not optimal.

Sorry - mental burp. That was for Purity. For Supremacy - I'd probably go Computing for spies (and starting down that path in tree), Robotics for Firaxite, Cognition for neurolab, Bionics for institute, then Artificial Intelligence, which lets youuse free tech on Hypercomputing.

I typically dip into Computing first to get spies up and running, then divert to Bionics to get the Institute, then go to Robotics. You can hard build an institute by the time robotics finishes - then you're ready to use your free tech to knock out Nanotechnology - probably the most expensive...

Thanks for confirming this - it was driving me crazy. Before the patch, it seemed like researching deeper into the tech web for affinity techs was nice to have - post-patch, it seems like a ridiculous amount of research/science is required just to qualify for a VC. Really broken...

The game text is a bit misleading then. 'continents other than where Indonesia started' That implies bonus should be when city does not share continent with Capital versus being one its own unique continent.

Are the unique Lux resources provided as long as the continent isn't shared with the Capital? Or does each city need to be on a distinct continent for UA to kick in?

For these crazy-fast ICS wins - on what turn are you unlocking Sacred Sites? How many cities did you have? I think I may be overexpanding early on, driving up the SP cost too much.

They are also helpful for a pivot to a diplo victory. A trade mission generates a fair amount of coin and also typically flips a CS to Ally status. Use the new gold to buy another CS or two and you can pull in a nice number of delegates quickly with a couple GMs.
