I figured there'd be a thread around on this. I had the same problem, figuring it meant something relatively benign but not being able to find info on it anywhere (and I had read the entire manual before playing and checked in-game for mention of it, too). Seems to be overlooked.

Yeah, come to think of it, this happened to Kubla Kahn in another game I was playing (he was leading) and the stack of swordsmen walked right by one of my cities, within my border, and made a bee-line for him. This was likely the same thing, since I'm almost always leading in points early on...

Interesting. That was my first inclination, too (to leave borders closed). I tried opening my borders in my current game and while it seemed to calm the war-mongering a bit, it did lead to me dropping into the middle of the pack in terms of overall points eventually. I'll have to keep playing...

Yep. Anytime I play I set the in-game alarm (and if I forget I'll be in trouble). Time seems to whip on by.

I've seen the computer use missionaries plenty of times. Perhaps you are just missing them being used? Do you have enemy or friendly moves not being shown?
