Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

Yes, it is 2% on Huge for me as well. The idea that this is a tall/wide issue that some people insisted on drove me crazy when I first posted this in a thread before the last patch.

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

I told you 3000 words ago and repeated myself that the tech speed on Marathon-Prince scales poorly.

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

I'm far and easily ahead in that game, I have no trouble with the difficulty. If myself and the Prince AIs are as far behind from historic dates as we are in that save and any number of other Prince games that can be posted, this is a brand new phenomena with Marathon games unlike Marathon games...

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

Here you go. I've played some more, it's the 1920s close to turn 1000. As tech leader I'm pulling away from most civs yet I'm still in the Industrial Era with recently teched Riflemen and Cavalry while the rest of the world is still using pikes, crossbows, and muskets.

Would you like a save? This problem has been exclusive to BNW; not Civ4, Warlords, Beyond the Sword, Civ5, nor Gods and Kings. Obviously, the remodel in BNW is the only change so it is an issue of scaling. Rifling won't be researched until the 20th century, tanks by the 21st? That is not...

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

I'm playing Venice and I just took my fifth CS which are all developed. (I have five total settlements, 19th Century). The number of cities has little impact, some of the most advanced Civs are much larger than mine. The problem isn't MY tech growth specifically, it's the tech level across the map.

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

One possible factor may be trade routes seem to give a disproportionately small amount of beakers. As little as 7 out of 269 total as Venice; at best most routes yield 1-2 and zero most often. As the game progresses and techs become more and more expensive, trade beaker yields do not scale at...

Huge Marathon Tech Growth BNW - Still Lags Behind

Playing Brave New World on Marathon-Huge (15 civs, 24-28 CS,Continents, Prince), tech growth begins slowing cumulatively starting around late Medieval-Renaissance periods. This is exclusive to Brave New World; through Civilization 4 to Gods and Kings tech growth on Noble/Prince was accurate for...

Science is dramatically slowed on Huge Maps

I've had similar experiences on huge/marathon though it was rifleman instead of boats. Tech is fubar.

    Marathon Tech Growth BNW

I have about 6-8 founded and many puppeted. Here, here's the save, I'm tired of answering the same question. Now can we get some feedback from others who actually play marathon/have played in BNW and reached the last century or two?

So we still have the auto annex bug...

Happened to me in an earlier game as Zulu, capturing unit was an impi each time. Not sure if it's related to the unit but it hasn't happened in subsequent games.

    Marathon Tech Growth BNW

The problem is late game gets pushed way beyond a time victory.

    Marathon Tech Growth BNW

Marathon was fine for me pre-BNW, only in the current version has tech growth plummeted mid/late game.

    Marathon Tech Growth BNW

Err well, I thought it would be evident it's huge. I'm not going to count the number of cities but I'm fairly wide and tall and I'm the tech leader of all civs wide or tall. Tech progression among players is fairly flat in CIV V, it doesn't range as wildly as IV; if that standard tech rate is...

    Marathon Tech Growth BNW

If it's anything like my game, you'll start noticing it soon. Industrial era happened for me ballpark the same time as you, it's quite late for the Industrial era to begin.
