No, I haven't been playing the game enough to justify it. Hopefully now that it's been patched up a bit I will finally get sucked in, and then I will shell out for the extra civs and stuff.
I think there should be the option to 'revolution' and reselect your social policies. It should be expensive enough that you can only activate it once or twice in a game though.
It may just have been in my head but the brief bit of warring I've partaken in since the patch seemed more competitive and didn't produce as many facepalm moments.
Yeah, that kind of vague roleplaying element was always what seperated Civilization from most other games to me, and I'm really disappointed that it's gone.
It's actually my only major quarrel with the game.
IMO a 'demolish building' option that costs hammers and takes small amount of turns would be more balanced than the ability to immediately get rid of buildings for cash.
Personally I've found that there's always one or two civilizations that aggressively expand but after I'm forced to confront them around mid game (and usually take them out) it's smooth sailing then on while only the more placid, weaker civs remain.
I'm playing on a mixture of medium and low video settings with the lowest screen resolution. The wonder paintings are also out of place. Tried fiddling with the settings a bit but couldn't resolve the issue. Any way I can sort this out?- it's a bit annoying.
