You're not the only one, Xoon. I'm still losing on Noble, but not as heavily. I'm having to change my old Civ3 tactics a lot, to even compete.

Unfortunately, the civs close their borders, before I can get missionaries across to try and 'change their faith'. The shutter go up, before the onset of war and I'm stuck trying to build a big enough army to at least have a fighting chance.

In my latest game, I was actually starting to get to grips with things, but I hadn't 'invented' any religion. I was relying on another civs religion 'arriving' to allow me to have a state religion.
Of the 5 or 6 other religions, four were following Buddhism, but it hadn't 'leaked' into my...

I think of you have hit the nail on the head in that I'm still stuck in the Civ 3 'land grab' mentality andtrying to expand very quickly ( extra research with each new city in Civ 3, wasn't it ? ).

I'm not new to Civ ( started with Civ 3, so still a newbie compared to some of the 'old timers' ;)), but for some reason I'm really struggling on Noble level.
I can't seem to find a balance between keeping the marauding neighbours from trying to kick my ass and making sure I advance...
I was staggered at the price, when I bought it too. I was fully expecting to pay the full £29.99.
Play even sent a replacement, when the original order went 'missing' ( I assume there another Civ player in the Post Office out here :mischief: )
I've tried opening conquests.biq in the editor, but it throws up an error saying it isn't a valid Civ3 scenario file ( same as when the editor first loads ) :confused: :cry:
