Just had to use it and got x-hundred bloody treents was way to much to go through. Did me much good tho - however from game mechanics its to much works.
Due to limitations in spells a mage can hold in hid head (yes old D&D) I think that the str and def of the arcane units is good. But I would like a spell that enhances the str and def of a mage. This would mean that the mage could either use a summons, a fireball or an enchantment or load up on...
Lets add another enchantment level...
Enchant I - Magic armour +1 Def.
Enchant II - Flaming Arrows + 1 Range
Enchant III - Enchanted weapons +1 Att
This way we end up with troops +1 all around from a lvl 3 enchanter (archmage) which shouldn't be to unlikely.
Well there is one ting that sisturbs me with fireball and meteor swarm. It kills alot of units but no-one gets any XP... I want my archmage to get that XP.

The big argument for the x-bow (historically) wasn't that a trained x-bow man was very good. The reason the x-bow rewled was that an Untrained x-bowman was decent. This was also the reason the feudal lords made it illeagal in the begining. That a powerful lord-knight on a charger could be killed...
I tend to like a Ljos/FoL game and if I were to cast this spell mid game the game would become totally unplayable. Every square I own is wooded... The upkeep would kill me and the CPU time would kill the game.
Nah I suggest a magic forest spell instead...

Only thing I dont like is the Longbowman / Crossbowman thingy. A Longbowman unit was Way more efficiant than a x-bow unit (historically) but the ease of training the x-bowmen won out. i think this should play out in the game as well with Longbowmen having a bitt better attack and some more...
Voted for bring am back alive since the animals are impossible to come by - however I would suggest you get a animal unit instead so you can create the cage in the city where you want int.
I would really like to mix these two up increasing the usefulness of the arcane troops.
