    Your "Go-To" Civs

I tend to experiment and try to play as all civs, but if I had to pick a go to civ, they would be: Vanilla: Japan G+K: still experimenting. Most likely Austria/Mayans, though. BNW: ? Portugal seems good, as does Venice for diplomacy. I'm probably most excited for Assyria, though.

Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

Perhaps the New Civ is the Shawnee with Tecumseh as the leader. They could be playing off his dream/goal to unite the native tribes against the European settlers. UA could involve a prophet/missionary-like unit that converts barbarian camps into cities, or at least to the player's side...

What Native American tribe do you expect/want?

Perhaps the New Civ is the Shawnee with Tecumseh as the leader. They could be playing off his dream/goal to unite the native tribes against the European settlers. UA could involve a prophet/missionary-like unit that converts barbarian camps into cities, or at least to the player's side.

How would you change existing civs in BNW?

I know it's been stated, but I agree that India really need to be fixed. As to the others: Byzantium: I like the bonus belief, but I agree that the Catapharact needs to replace a knight. I'd like to see the catapharact have a missionary-like ability, such that they can convert/spread...

The importance of the science lead seems greatly diminished

The World Congress should go a long way towards balancing things as well, as tech/beakers disseminate throughout its members. So if one member has a tech lead, the other members research those techs faster.

    Civilization V: Who/What Am I?

Siam. No single civ has tried as many coups on me as them...

    Some questions on navies

What are the long-term benefits, or even more immediate benefits, of a pre-atomic navy? I see the obvious ones, ie protecting fishing boats, possible supplementing land troops with ranged bombardment, actually succeeding in a naval invasion, etc, but is there anything that would cause an early...

    Refining science victory?

I'll try the tall strategy in my next game, but the math seems to indicate that it's best to go wide. For instance, consider two empires, one with 5 cities with 30 population each, and the other with 22 cities with 10 population each. Civ A (5 cities) generates a base of 150 science, while Civ...

    Civs that surprised you

I was really impressed by Sweden. Their UA looks underwhelming on paper, but in practice it is very potent. Set up a tall civ, churn out the Great people late in the game, and use each one to get a new city state ally.

    Refining science victory?

Do you prefer a tall civ or a wide civ for science? I tend to go moderately tall, but with at least 15 cities. I know the public schools provide +3 science per building... Also, what about tradition vs liberty? I've heard arguments both ways, and both sound like they'd work.

    Refining science victory?

I usually finish Liberty and Rationalism, and pick up Tradition early (border growth), and go two into Order.

    Refining science victory?

I tend to have a hard time getting cities that would do well next to mountains. Maybe I need to prioritize that a little more. I've been forgetting about putting scientists in my universities. Thanks. So you go with Freedom? I've almost always gone with order, for the +25% science bonus on...

The Inca have been betrayed by the mountains

One-city challenge? I'd re-roll, but it does have good potential if you can get out of there early.

    Sweden's gonna' get it (hopefully :) )

You, sir, have been infected. I'd say welcome to the club, but it's more of a hospital... Anyway, lol, it sounds like you have 'one-more-turn syndrome'. Watch out; it's a nasty disease that will suck all your free time, cause you to miss meals, sleep, and is a known cause of lower back pain.

    Best Civilization

For Domination: Japan. Bushido owns the battlefield. When you hit the late medieval period, start churning out Samurai (without overly neglecting buildings) and take your continent. China. The Great General bonus is nice, but the real reason I'd go with China is the Cho-ku-no. A...
