The Great library is important for those going for a cultural win as well. Looking through the editor, it has one of if not thee highest culture rating at 7 (i i remember correctly).
Those aztecs are brutal. In my current game, although they were on a continent on the other side of the world, they declared war on me getting two countries that border mine on thier side. They barely even fight in the war, just sending over frigates to bombard my cities. Then when I finally...
Im learninng its imperative to take opportunities during wars. First off If another civ invades you, do anything you can to get the civ on thier opposite border to ally with you, even if its costly. If your unable to hold off the attack alone, then its worth whatever the price. This will...
You get negativity on pretty much every game forum. There is no way to make everyone happy. If there were, you'd have the perfect game. I say let those who want to complain, complain. And rightfully so let those who want to praise, praise.
The problem is the only way to have an alliance is one of a war nature. You either
1)ally with another civ - military alliance, declaring war against another nation.
2)You form a peace treaty - which you can apparently only do to end a war, not prevent one.
3)You form a mutual protection...
I noticed that your military size compared to the other civs also equals out the diplomacy. The only thing that gets irritating is the mutal protection treaties. Not the ones that you as the player make but the ones the computer makes. Im in this game now where I successfully achieved a large...
I just want to make it clear im not complaining about the tough AI. That game was really cool I played. I did not expect that size a force coming at me and that is what makes the game fun. I have expeirenced the large barbarian raiding parties. They seem much weaker though in health. Anyways...
Actually I try to find an in between there. I had about 6 units in each city. One problem was my main country was rather small and I was forced to settle small colonies on other islands so I sent a lot of units to protect them against barbarian attacks. Those knights are dam fast and...
I've learned the hard way that you do not declare war (in the middle ages) on another civ with knights unless you have some of your own. I stupidly allied with the Romans who started a war with England only to back out when they were losing big time. So they signed a peace treaty while Im stuck...
Thanks guys for the response. The recent articles on avault got me worked up again about the game and had me scouring the net for more info. That was the one question I couldnt find the answer to.
I was wondering about the game pace in civ 3. One of the things that bothered me about the 2nd one was the speed in which the technology would be researched. I would just get a good size army of troops when 2 turns later they would be out dated due to new tech. I know they added an upgrade...
