My first game Med. world Random Barb.
150AD I've got about 8 city's a few I have hovering at 6 size. I've meet 2 of the 7 oppt. sudenly on one side of my empire 24 barb horsemen appear. Guess what same turn other side of empire 20 barb. horsemen appear!!!!!
What the *&^%$#@ am I supposted to do about this...:crazyeyes  :o

Haha, I've had that happen too last night, a boatload of barbarians came down (two at a time) and tried to wipe out some units. fortunately, they're pretty week although about 8 of them finally wiped out a veteran horseman outside my city walls. What's worse is when they arrive when your city is unprotected and steal like 80 pieces of gold.

This was on the normal Barbarian settings, nothing fancy..

Maybe you should disband all your units and spend all your gold, since barbs don't take empty cities and only take gold? :p

Look up reicipes for horsemeat, and enjoy yourself.

They'll also destroy things in production. And I think (can't remember for sure) they'll raze buildings.

Heh.. reminds me of Starfleet Command II. The developers made the Orion Pirates numerous enough that you would see them frequently in battle, but there was a fatal side effect.

They carve up every empire on the map. By the late game the Orions cease to be a minor nuisance (And outlaws) and become the sole super-power (And the law) of the Alpha Quadrant.

Thankfully, that was editable, as is Civ III.

After rev'en up my assault team.
1. I have a reg. Bowman guarding a collony. he takes out 10 horsemen before he dies (he did get up to elite) but 5 more show up.
2. other side-- a warrior dies early. 10 more horsemen show up.
3. I have my 1st Warrior (elite) way of the side exploring and he gets jumped. he kils 8 horsemen before dying

:crazyeyes

I don't think you can change that.
You couldn't do that in civ1 or civ2. all you can do is start over:lol:

Ahh, obviously your random ended up on "Ragin' Hordes of Pain".

Shouldn't we be happy? After all, didn't we ask Firaxis to make the AI and the barbarians tougher? We were always "complaining" about how weak the AI was at waging war, and how pathetic barbarian attacks were.

I had a bad barbarian experience too. First game ever, built my capital and a second city and waiting for the units to pop out while using my worker to connect the cities. All is good

Thats when it all started ... barbarians came and not knowing that white was barbarian they closed in on my worker and killed it . Then they started pounding me from 3 sides of the map. Every turn I was getting attacked by barbarian warriors or horsemen ... My cities had units defending them but expansion was almost impossible without falling too much behind so i put on my cap of shame and restarted.

That was my "welcome to civ 3" :D

The better barbarian AI is definitly a welcome change! :goodjob: :goodjob:

I've learned the hard way that you do not declare war (in the middle ages) on another civ with knights unless you have some of your own. I stupidly allied with the Romans who started a war with England only to back out when they were losing big time. So they signed a peace treaty while Im stuck fighting the battle now. And of course England's price for peace was just too high so I decided to fight it out. Well my musketeers were trampled quickly when 15 knights crossed into my borders and thru 4 of my cities. The computer actually sent a few transports with troops to my port cities far from the front lines where I was diverting troops from.

On my Deity level game the casualities are much more even. None of this warrior taking out 8 horsemen crap.

The AI clearly regards war as "attack with overwhelming force or don't bother". I'm more worried about the fact that Glide's English foes have Iron and Horses, and Glide doesn't....I think you're in for a loss unless you can get to Riflemen quickly, but the price now for the English to negotiate peace is probably going to involve your Saltpeter for your Musketeers, giving the English Cavlary units that will continue to roll your cities. :)

Damn you i got to wait till friday to get back home and get my copy. I should have mailed it to my dorm instead of my house.
Then again i might not be still in a dorm if i got my hands on civ 3 right away;)
