    Persia and China: Reverse attributes?

OK, this is a thread about the attributes of Persia (Scientific/Industrious) and China (Militaristic/Industrious). It is not about "Why didn´t Firaxis do it this or that way, im so pissed of... (whine)". I know I can change the attributes in the editor with the exact amount of 13 clicks. The...

    Original names for UUs?

TLC: Sharru sounds great, much better than the translation "padi". Guess I´ll use this from now on. I´ll try to find the ancient shah word, and also the Persian name of Xerxes while I´m at it because I think X. is Greek. Kasazkij should be correct. In an online dictionary, I found the singular...

    Original names for UUs?

To clarify: The folder names in Arts/Units and the name of the .ini file in the unit folder, not the other files. And if you want to play downloaded scenarios, don´t forget to change the unit names in the .bic file also or Civ won´t find the units. Reboot: Panzer just means tank, Panther is a...

    Once they are furious...

Depends. In my games, Zulus usually stay furious for the rest of the game. With other civilizations, gifts might help (like 20 turns of Incense). If they offer MPP, they probably want to start a war and find nobody else stupid enough to help them with it.

    Original names for UUs?

OK, to give it happy end: This is the full list of my new unit names. Jaguar Warrior: Tlacah Ocelotl (men and jaguar) Bowman: Sabe Qasti Hoplite: Hoplitoi Impi: seems correct... Legionary: Legionarii Immortals: Anusiya War Chariot: Merkabat Rider: Qi Shi Mounted Warrior: Akecheta...

I have an agent named Gweeto!

No, it´s not. Never seen it in regular versions from the beginning to 1.29. I get the text w/o the "known only as" message.

    Original names for UUs?

pzvh: Thanks, "merkabot" sounds interesting. A little bit like "merkavah", is this coincidence or is there a link between ancient Egyptian and Hebrew languages? Lt.: I found the correct word by now, a babylonian king is called "padi". "Shah" is the title for X-Man... Coming up soon (I...

    Original names for UUs?

A short update: After browsing dozens of bible sites, I found the Babylonian word for bowmen: "sabe qasti". Great... The Egyptian word for chariot is transcripted as "mrkbt", but I won´t use this as a name.

    Original names for UUs?

The point with the Panzer is probably not so much the vehicle itself but the blitzkrieg. Perhaps someone could create an animation with a little stuka above the unit... I guess I have to rename the Legionarii to Legio or something, because I really have to think about the disease now...

    Original names for UUs?

Found Immortals! :D In Persia they probably were called Anausa, which is simply the translation. However, suspicions are that Herodot, who was the only writer who described them, confused this name with Anusiya (companions). Since this sounds better anyway I´ll use this... Lt.: Exactly my...

    Original names for UUs?

A few days ago I encountered a thread about the somewhat boring names of certain UUs, like the rider. I learned in this thread that the Chinese translation for rider is Qi Shi and renamed them in my game. Being a little perfectionist, I continued with other UUs, but I simply don´t know the...

Yeah, I have. Playing as Babylonians, Monarch, Standard map. Finished it around 1950 and launched it immediately when the spaceship screen came up showing me the Party Lounge.

    Socialist symbol

The only organisations I saw using the yellow star were Maoist ones, usually accompanied by carrying a "ML" in the name for "Marxist-Leninist" and a hammer/sickle with a gun in it for the "peoples´ war". This is a German view, though. The Soviets used most of the revolutionary symbols first...

    Socialist symbol

@scorch (returning to topic): A yellow star is Maoist, meaning China/Vietnam etc. If you still want a symbol after this thread, think about how you imagine the way society will change. If you have a form of transitional state before the "free society", you´re a communist (red star). If you think...

    Political Spectrum

Left/Right: -6,62 Authoritarian/Liberal: -8,56 Of course it has its limitations. E.g., should pornography be legal? On the one hand, it´s authoritarian to ban it, therefore bad in my opinion. On the other hand, it´s picturing sexuality from a male view, or shows what a "male" view should be...
