Finally won a game on deity (Rome, domination, standard size), not sure if it got easier or I'm just getting better though. Nubia are a civ that's almost impossible to rush, so that's one aspect that's harder.

Someone mentioned somewhere that there might be a glitch with gold from kills not counting for points. Not sure if that's true or not, but either way I'm going to wait a while just in case before attempting North Africans on deity.

I find it really strange that people are finding this a problem. In my last game, I had Shaka switch ideologies FOUR times. First from order, to autocracy, to freedom, and back to order! Korea and Shoshone both switched to order too. Of course, it was from freedom/autocracy to order, so maybe...

Surprised no one has mentioned continents plus. I feel like it's the most balanced map type. Plenty of small islands around the map, with 2-3 continents. Actually allows Spain and Indonesia to use their abilities, and it stops cheesy CS worker stealing at the beginning of the game.

Maybe it's just me, but the AI seems a lot easier to become friends with, and focuses less on military now too. Works pretty well with their UA.

Came here to make this exact thread. It's crazy how hard the Africans have it compared to the Europeans. So far I've won Deity with England and Belgium (and getting the achievements!) with really little effort, for the Africans it's something else... The main problem for the North Africans...

You can try an infinite city spam strategy as Carthage, combined with messenger of the gods to get some ridiculous science output early game. IIRC my game started well, but lost when France became a run away. I might try it again sometime to see if I can get it to work.
