Is it really US$50?

Ah I didn't know that. That would be disappointing and really for a digital product that doesn't make sense. I hope you can find a site that has sale at least.

Closest thing is MightyApe, which has it for the same cost but in NZD (Which makes me think Steam price is because Steam can't handle NZD, but converted it anyway), so it works out at about $15-20 cheaper even with the preorder discount on Steam.

Ah yes, the horrendous prices of games in Australia and New Zealand.
I heard some other people from the region talking about this site, greenmangaming, which offers great discounts on games, especially in the Aus region. Perhaps it's worth a look.

Not here it isn't. Steam's charging 49.99 USD in New Zealand and Australia for some reason, with the 10% preorder bonus bringing that down to $44.99. Why? No idea. But it's really rather annoying.

Even Australia's new The Checkout program (featuring some of the Chaser/Hamster Wheel cast) can't answer this discrepency!

Worse still, Aussie dollar is getting weaker. It's around $0.95 USD. Used to be around $1.05USD.

That's why I buy from greenmangaming - I got XCOM:EU for roughly half the price I'd have paid if I bought through steam direct.

I've pre-ordered this from them, for $20.50 USD using this voucher: GMG25-GDSAK-7FPWQ

If the voucher doesn't give 25% off (to go with the 10% off it already has), just wait - gmg do vouchers like that all the time. It should work, though.

Picked this up from GMG for £13.50 using the code. Good heads up, thanks.

I'm liking these prices, but this website is confusing - I can't work out where I'm supposed to enter that code. I keep getting to the payment screen without seeing an option to enter one.

EDIT: I should stop posting before figuring things out... got it working! You've all saved me about $40. Thanks!

Minisav? It's on the second page of the five or so that you click through. Shouldn't be able to miss it really.

GMG looks great, thanks for the link. Sadly it was too late for me, I already preordered on Steam. But for future purchases, do you also get any Steam preorder on there? So if I were to preorder Rome 2 for instance, would I get the Greek states DLC for free?

I got the preorder bonus for XCOM:EU, so I'd expect so. YMMV.

Thanks for the link guys, NZ Civ fan here, and I wasn't really looking forward to paying $45USD on steam. I looked around at a few other websites, but digital downloads were only available for US customers. I remember I had this problem when I went to buy the original Civ5, and ended up paying a friend in the US to buy it for me.

It's absurd that they can charge so much more for digitally distributed software just because of our IP address.

It is best to read the fine print. But from what i have seen, the GMG pre-order for Rome II:TW offers the Greek cultural pack so that is a yes for your question. I am buying from there too:)

Oh and i got their awesome deal for Bioshock Infinite a few months back. $50+ USD for Bioshock 1,2,Infinite and X-Com. Quite possibly the most amazing thing ever. Steam couldn't compare.

I think it's because for some reason publishers think that shipping costs and whatever costs related to transporting CD's to Aus and NZ apply to the internet. It's pretty dumb. *sigh* nearly all of our software/games cost almost $20-40 more than they should -_-
