Gauntlet 2: Step by step ICS style!

Great writeup, thanks for providing the details!

    Civ V - Beta 2

Finally got down below 1900, finished in 1897. This time I focused only on the top half of the tech tree until I'd gotten to Biology, which seemed to help a lot as puppet cities weren't building a lot of walls and armories early in the game. I got beat to the Great Library and didn't even try...

23 cities? How did you keep from being permanently very unhappy?

    Civ V - Beta 2

Attempt #3. Turn 525, 1935. Good news: I'm consistent, all three games right around turn 520-525. Bad news: that's pretty slow. Anyone have suggestions, other than lowering the sea level (which I prefer not to do, I kinda like the islands)? Used the following rules: - Medium sea level. - OK...

    Civ V - Beta 2

I think it was the way that I avoided puppets that made the city-states seem less impressive. Getting friendly with the maritime CSs made my neighbors unhappy, and I wasn't attacking them to puppet their cities. And I kept running out of gold buying up CS loyalty, probably because I was trying...

    Civ V - Beta 2

Game 2. I'm purposely not doing some things in this game. I'm not saying these are exploits, but I consider them either unbalanced or taking advantage of loopholes in the HOF rules. These are: - Stick to Medium sea level (we should really specify this setting so everyone is the same) - No...

    Civ V - Beta 2

One thing that I think would be worth adding in the gauntlet rules is the sea level. Seems a lot of folks are switching to low to make the Archipelago map more like a "Small Continents" map. The game plays quite a bit differently if you have more connected land masses. I'm not saying that's...

    Civ V - Beta 2

Won on turn 522, 1932. Not a particularly good showing, due to a combination of bad luck and poor choices. I'm not a big fan of the "restart until you like your starting position" approach so I played out what I was given. Sea level was normal, too, so I had my fair share of little single-tile...

    Civ V - Beta 2

I like this setup. I'm a big fan of spaceship victories, my favorite way to win. I've started a game and after 100 turns, still haven't met any other great powers and only 2 city-states. Things move a lot more slowly in Epic mode!

    Civ V Beta 1

I tried the only-found-one-city approach, and it didn't work out so well. Managed to win, but not until 2026 AD. It didn't help that the darn Chinese kept attacking me - they seemed unable to learn that just because my power ranking was lower didn't mean I wouldn't wipe the floor with them. :)...
