When do you expect next patch fall and what could be it's priorities?

I still wish for a major civ rebalance, some civs have been ridiculous since release (Skythia, Sumeria), and we've been telling them since the trailers dropped on top of that so even before release. Then the DLC added even more broken ones to make the mess even bigger (Mongolia, the...

AI Would be Twice as Good at Conquering If They Changed Catapults to "Support"

I'd welcome this change, besides the AI the human player might actually get some use out of them pre-observation balloons. Catapults just do not work currently, too expensive, too fragile and too slow compared to battering rams and cavalry/melee. In a PVP environment they are just laughable as well.

[Vanilla] Hard early game, easy late game

This is true for every difficulty, late game is always too easy. AI has no way to drag you down once you are ahead, since it still can't war.

    Unique unit elimination thread

Conquistador (Spain) - 22 Cossack (Russia) - 23+1=24 Utterly unstoppable, can strike a town from the fog, raize it, and move out again with the "move after attacking" ability before the other guy can even react. Only drawback is that they come very late into the game. If Russia survives to this...

    [R&F] Most pressing issue?

Couldn't agree more. I've long since given up hope that Firaxis will ever fix the important stuff (they are far too busy nerfing England and then buffing it the next patch:rolleyes:). So the decent thing to do would at least be giving modders the tools to do the job they clearly can't.

    [R&F] Governors IRL

Micromanagement IMHO is all the actions that require player input without requiring player thinking. Whether I build a Campus or a Holy Site is macro, calculating optimal overflow to chop it with maximum production modifiers is micro. On the topic of governors, they are indeed one of the more...

    Leader depiction elimination thread

Chandragupta Maurya - 18 Cyrus the Great - 13 (12+1) Great voice acting, great appearance Gitarja - 27 Gorgo - 21 Hojo Tokimune - 14 Jayavarman VII - 10 (13-3) He looks like an alien to me, also his music gets on my nerves Lautaro - 5 Peter the Great - 13 Poundmaker - 22 Seondeok - 23 Teddy...

    Leader depiction elimination thread

Amanitore - 15 Catherine de' Medici - 18 Chandragupta Maurya - 21 Cleopatra - 15-3=12 Still a fake, plastic, (word I can't use due to family friendly forums) Cyrus the Great - 23 Frederick Barbarossa - 17 Genghis Khan - 22 Gilgamesh - 14+1=15 Gilgabro is such an icon for this game, he should get...

    Leader depiction elimination thread

Alexander - 11 Amanitore - 17 Catherine de' Medici - 21 Chandragupta Maurya - 21 Cleopatra - 17 (20-3) Annoying personality, ugly as well, I just can't see Marcus Antonius or Ceasar falling head-over-heals for this basic Kim Kardashian impersonation Cyrus the Great - 22 Frederick Barbarossa -...

    [R&F] Tier Rankings

I have, Alhambram in PBEM2 won through a religious push, though there were shenanigans that made it work out for him, he was in a DoF with the only guy who wasn't converted yet so his religious units couldn't be stopped and he also crushed the founder of the only other major religion with Cossacks.

    [R&F] Tier Rankings

The first Great General is only 60 GGpoints, hotly contested, and often game-deciding in MP. Japan is the only one that gets a discount (now joined by Zulu) towards the Encampment. Hense, unless the starts are really unbalanced, Japan'll almost always be first to get a Great General. Only...

[R&F] Are Districts in a good place?

I think that it feels more realistic this way actually, I see the District itself as something like the city saying: "this is what we focus on!" while the buildings are a way to enhance what is already there. F.e Alexandria (on the Nile) was already an international trade hub and already housed...

    [R&F] Tier Rankings

Curious how different communities can come up with entirely different OP civs. Over at Realms Beyond Skythia and Sumer are still insta-bans, while Aztecs rarely even get considered. We've come to the consensus that the UU is too costly to be an effective rush, too gimmicky to make work...

Why is Inland Sea so big?

IIRC the tile dimensions are the exact same, but Inland Sea has more land area, the "sea" itself is often just 5-10 accross and there are vast tracts of backlands to fill. The inland sea also has less chance of you being wedged into a corner or placed on one continent with lots of civs (and an...

    Civ IV anyone?

Yeah the civ IV AI was pretty terrible, but it does give a perfect example of how scripting mandatory behaviour can at least make it challenging. F.e civ 4 AI doesn't know how to escort settler, it is just set to always send a unit along, same for city defenders it doesn't "assess the situation"...
