there's a simple thing that allow us to prevent the infamous "barbarian event" - just reload few turns and move an unit to the plot where the barbarians are going to be spawned...

defenietly Charlemagne, Jaoe and Willem de Oranje - that's the BTS killers pack. zara is good, but not that dangerous. from vanilla and warlords... hannibal can be nasty as someone mentioned, rome is of course great but deangerous only if warring early with you which is not neccessary to happen...

i'd like to see that combo. just give the nation crap UB and UU it should be fine. as i always play either marathon or epic phi/ind should be Asoka or Ghandi for example as i hate fast worker and i don't even remember what their UB is

i love to play large pangea marathon with 15 other civs... it's really hard no to get killed later on without a proper start, but usually thanks to close proximity to others you will be able to kill one civ with the first warrior as they leave their capitals undefended and later settle on the...

the easiest start ever? i'm sorry but at the moment i'm playing a map where i got 2xGOLD 2XCRAB 1XCLAM 1XCOPPER, fresh water and lots of forest tiles to chop in the BFC from the start. Plus one tile off there's marble and second city will grab stone and ivory... what more can you ask for?
