Sorry, my bad. I totally forgot civs won't be necessarily limited about history's coherence. Germany is surely a nice example to remember. Well, in that case I place my bet on Lorenzo, just because of that appearance in the intro of G+K.

Venice was an independent republic since the fall of the Western Roman Empire (Venice was founded from poeple running away from Aquileia, sacked by the Goths of Alaric) until Napoleon. I agree Venice should remain as a CS, that fit more in her case, but a Venetian civ would be quite a challenge...

Matilde di Canossa, that's right. :D Studying History at college and playing CKII, I know her very well. But she wasn't a remarkable leader... I don't know, it's like picking El Cid as leader of Spain.

Another thought of mine: seeing how all the leaders unveiled until now are all males, it could be that some civs will have a female leader. In that case, Italy's only F leader I recall now is Queen Margherita of Savoy (I don't think Lucrezia Borgia would be possible lol).

As an Italian myself, I'm rather curious about the leader they would pick for an Italic civ. As I stated before, Florence is maybe the first candidate for that: Lorenzo de' Medici has already appeared in the intro movie of G+K; modern Italian was born in Tuscany, so little trouble for language...

We're talking about less-known civs to the standardized gamer, as those African ones are IMO. I challenge you to find someone who didn't heard even once just ONE of those civs you mentioned, maybe excluding Assyria (who will come up only in the upcoming exp). :D Nope, I was talking about...
