Why does every game on this forum seem to be on pangea. Even with a water leader where it'd be nice to make use of his UU/UB. Oh well, might try it anyway since Willem is one of my favourite leaders. Quite annoying though... contact with other continents and islands has always been one of my...
I agree with Drik's comments here. Ignoring defense and then attributing the following loss to bad luck is quite silly. Similarly I agree that later era play isn't valued as it should be. This is often evidenced in threads where someone posts a game and rather than giving advice for the position...
Enviromentalism has its uses. It's particuarly nice with a small empire as you won't have access to many health resources but you will want large cities.
Also in maps with a large amount of hills such as global highlands enviromentalism can be very nice - enviro windmills are a very good...

I find I can get some use out of marines in naval assaults - combined with fighters taking cities without landing first is quite nice. I've noticed from your videos you play mostly pangea maps though. Perhaps that causes you to undervalue them a little?
As for the seal, its...

I agree with the above poster - at first follow most of the recomendations and possibly automate your workers. Just get through the game and get used to what things do. Some quick advice I would give is to turn on the resource bubbles(Ctrl + R) and settle new cities near the resources. After a...
I disagree with the people in this thread suggesting that you shouldn't be building wonders because it will either hamper your growth or teach you "bad habits". Wonders are a big part of the game, sure they may slow down the growth of your civilization but they open up strategies of their own...
Yeah marathon certainly can be more fun and relaxing than normal speed if you're in the mood. I would stick to the default number of civs for huge size(i forget how many that is) as that gives you a nice amount of room to expand, and due to the slow speed you will meet people early enough...
I think a lot of what determines the most effective traits is also the map layout and proximity of neighbours. In maps where you start very close to opponents aggresive is going to be very helpful because you're both going to be using axes and yours are going to be much better. In larger maps...
