I want to teach myself how to mod the game to try to create something like this, so I thought I'd post this idea as a way to fish for ideas or if the populus just thinks it's a dumb idea. It's a very ambitious idea so I don't know how realistic it is just with mod tools.

I thought it was my imagination that a Quick G&K game feels like a Normal vanilla game. I imagine a Normal G&K game would feel like an epic vanilla game.
This is a really good point. Civ V's early units really progress too fast (Catapaults > Trebuchets in what, 3 techs?). Some of them end up in dead-ends.... having an upgrade path for everything is elegant.
I'm bumping this ancient as dirt thread because I would really like to know if anyone's found out of this is possible. Playing on a 13 inch laptop, I want all the screen real estate I can get!
The drag is that I bought the Korea DLC without thinking at all about whether or not it's available on Mac... Oh well, I do have it on PC as well. Still, it's a super drag.
What do those buttons even do? I read the help file and I didn't find an explanation. The possibility exists that I have undiagnosed mental disorders, but I doubt it.
