    More distinctive civs

This seems to be an excellent idea, since civs pt different emphasis on different parts of society/military based upon their location, environment/resources. For example, the russians and mongols placed higher emphasis on their mounted cavalry, while others such as the romans emphasized the...

    Goverments

Since i usually go for a culture/diplomatic win, the lower corruption and high work rate help maximize my gold to build improvements/ gain diplo. support

    forbidden city

im not sure if this is already a thread, but when is the best time to build the forbidden city? building it too early reduces its benefit a lot, but too late impairs your income and redudces tech rates, so it seems that early middle age is the best time since your civ is well established and...

    Do you research nationalism?

i usually play as a sci civ, but will not research nationalism unless i need them for a war/fasc/comm. Replaceable parts does take many advances to reach, so it is better to wait for rp than research nationalism. Also, the advances for rep. parts are required, so this makes it an even better idea.

    Rail/Road Maintenance

the maitenance idea seems good, since the us civil war was greatly affected by the confederacy's inability to maintain its rr network and this would help the games realism

    counterfire

should bombard units should be able to counterfire if they are fired upon by another bombard unit, and possibly damage the attacker (like in SMAC)? I think this would better reprsent the artillery duels seen in the us civil war, WWI, etc, and make it possible to destroy enemy bombard units...

    anarchy duration

well, it might be better to have only the size of the civ and not its miltary size be the only determinant, since this would make it more balanced toward small civs. The civil war idea is also realistic, since this is often the product of govt. change, for example ancient/medevial china

    anarchy duration

the size of the military in relation to the size of the civ should also affect it, making it shorter with a larger army in relation to population and longer if the nation has a smaller military in relation to population
  9. L

    anarchy duration

anarchy should be less random and determined by factors such as civ size and type of government, since a transition from a republic/demo to a totalitarian government( or vice versa possibly) would take longer than a transition between two similar govts such a republic-demo or monarchy-feudalism...
