    Civ4 sound problems and fixes

I did some testing, and I found that I could make the bug come back if I changed "Globe Quality" to "Low" and restarted the game. It would stay present, even if I turned the quality to "Medium," until I quit and restarted the game. Upon restarting with "Globe Quality" previously set to...

    Civ4 sound problems and fixes

I had the same problem with a Radeon 9650 with 256MB VRAM. By accident, I found that turning the quality up actually solved the problem. :wow: Try "medium" for the three graphics levels, antialiasing of 2, high detail terrain on, low-res textures off, globe view buildings disabled off...

    More on Civ4's problems

So here's an odd one... After installing the beta patch, my G5 2x2.7GHz was still having the corrupted VRAM when you zoom out to the globe. So I decided, since the rest of the game was much faster without the CPU bogged down with unwanted threads... how would it play with higher graphics...

    Get the patch!

I'm seeing similar improvements and bugs. The CPU usage on my dual 2.7 is more reasonable now. However, I do have the screeching right speaker bug (which can be reset by turning ambient sounds off, then on), and I'm still seeing texture garbage when I zoom out to a globe view. I've got a...

Antialiasing multisamples + scouts? = Kernel Panic

What confuses me is that I have that very issue, and I have 256MB VRAM, which is considerably above minimums. :dubious: So how much VRAM do I need to not run out in globe view on a Cinema HD Display?

How to make Civ4 for Mac work better

Possibly the gains are due to running with a slightly lesser resolution... but when I switched mid-game, it was the difference between "really jerky when you pan" to "mostly smooth." I didn't have any kernel panics, but then I didn't build any scouts, either.

How to make Civ4 for Mac work better

I've got a dual 2.7GHz G5 with a Radeon 9650 card, 256MB VRAM, and Mac OS X 10.4.6. I'm seeing all those issues... * No unit sounds. Well, once I did hear a plane on patrol, but that was just after loading a saved game, and the noise went away once I actually did anything. * Glitchy music...

    Sound Issues with Recommended Setups

I've got a G5 Dual 2.7GHz with a Radeon 9650 video card, 256MB VRAM. I get background music... usually. It tends to stutter a lot. Transitions between bits of music are abrupt and jarring. No unit sounds at all. Nimoy's voice is present... but mysteriously stopped working after four or...

Insane Civ IV System Requirements announced

It strikes me that we Mac users are a bit spoiled when it comes to equipment requirements. Because Macs don't die from component failure at an early age... because the OS still runs on Macs with CPUs three generations old... because most programs don't tax the processor... we forget what life...
