I notice that the AI uses the long bow unit to protect its cities. These guys are tough to take out. I usually launch an army of praetorians on them and I usually capture the city, but a lot of my units wind up perishing. Any tips on dealing with Long Bow units during the early middle...

I'll look for them tonight. I do have the required techs for them. The only button I saw on the top was draft, but it was disabled (I think). I'll look again.

Do these really matter in the game? For instance, the Arabs prefer Republic and their shunned government is despotism. What does this really mean in terms of the game? Usually I jump on Democracy regardless of whom I am playing. Also, how can you tell what sort of goverment a computer...
