Yeah, in earlier civs (I, II, and III) you could sail through ocean, however you risked losing your tireme/galley. (In civ3 it were pretty sure that your ship sink.)
Maybe a great merchant/ great general applied to the galley/tireme would allow it.
Strangest: My scout got a leadership promotion. He fell a few turns later to barbarian axeman
Good: horsewispher: stables +1 food
Inflation reducing event is nice.
And what about nuclear submarines?
It would required fission/uranium and have more strength, range than Submarine(WW I/II. type). It can carry missiles, nukes, etc.
I'd also allow them to carry marines/SEALs.
Also the SD should have see subsmarines.
Only started to play this scenario yesterday, so my startegy is not complete or proven yet :) (I play the historical scenario)
First I think you should build your industry, factories, etc.
Research industry level techs.
Then I think marines and anti air units will be important in the early...
Having Triremes is useful since they can be upgraded to caravels. Shaves a few turns for circumnavigation race.
Airships can detect subs, attack ground troop, recon.
Ah, yes ironclad, I never built them.
Subs make good recon units, can hide under ice, can carry tactical nukes/guided missile.
Maybe if they can target which ship to attack would be useful (like in civ2/3?)
Once I launched my spaceship before the last casing had been completed by mistake. (The last casing completed on the same turn or on the next). It said the probability of success is 80%. Perhaps the mission failed :(
But you can start building the ship again :)
I also like the Oromo warrior.
Drill IV Musketman is great and they can be upgraded to rifleman/infantry.
Drop a few pickeman into the stack or add some formation promotion and one can counter mounted units.
And which other UU get 2 free promotions?
Maybe one time i'll try Boudica of the...
I try to found some corporations: Mining, Standard Ethanol, etc.
Mining could be good if you are in the space race building space ship parts when every hammer counts. Or to give production to flat land cities.
Standard ethanol: if you lack oil, this could be a saver.
Other corporations...
Playing Hannibal:
Great Lighthouse, Colossus for synergy with the UB. Usually miss ToA :(
Otherwise:
Oracle, University of Sankore, Spiral Minaret (if going CoL)
Pentagon, Space Elevator (if space victory)
