Am I the only one finding that this patch appears to be making the game near unplayable late game? My turns are taking several minutes or more to crunch when I or one of the computers is at war. And sometimes longer than ten minutes apiece. It appears to be calculating worker movement. This is...
Hi. Thanks so much for the patches. Saw this issue with workers and long load times mentioned earlier, but since not many have commented I will add my experiences. I have now tried two immortal games on small maps since patching, and I think an emperor or two.
The patch is clearly working as...
Yeah. Loving this as well. Just got a week ago. Took a required break in an effort to get some schoolwork done.
Love the AI. It still does stupid things every now and then, but it is actually a challenge now to fight it. I typically play with aggressive opponents. I find much more...
I don't know... I was a pretty big warcraft III player. Wonderful game... but you didn't ever restart that because you didn't like your spot. Much as I do restart in Civ... I figured as my skill grows I ween myself off that. I have stopped endlessly reloading saved games (unless I've just given...
Alright. Well I've randomly made 5 games on emperor since reading these posts.
In one of the 5 games, I got a start location with ~5 flood plains and 5 forests right inside my first start area, but just as important I had a nice long winding river along which I could build many cities. The...
I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the enormous disparity in the quality of civilizations starting locations and the nearby areas. Some games I'll start with 20 nearby flood plains, lots of forests, lack of unusable desert, and tons of water. Other times I'll start with with almost no...
Though I happen to disagree, regardless, I see no reason the option to rebuff cities wishing to join your culture is not present. It was present in previous versions of civilization. Now it is just a big headache. Not only do you have to go to war to raze the city (as was the case in all civ...
The ai seems to have no hesitancy about building cities in placements most real players would consider encroaching on their teritory. Yet when these dumb cities which I don't want as the heavily overlap with mine inevitably flip I don't seem to have the option of "rebuff the rebels" or so on...
I have found this game to be more enjoyable with the space race condition off. I never even did much in the modern era besides build the spaceship because if I didn't someone else would and I would lose.
With the condition off I don't have to plan my entire civilization from day one with the...
As a further note I have found a bit of a solution to this. I had been playing on 10 player games. The result being there was almost never an ai player that didn't have at least a few other friends. I've been playing 5 player games now and not surprisingly the results are much better as there is...
Thanks for the replies. Lots more interested in what other people have to say than myself, but I thought I'd address this issue many seem to be latching onto about repeated peace treaties and war.
This is a minor issue, and even were it not possible to syphon gold and technology from a dieing...
How long do these last? They appear to be permanent. If this is the case I find it incredibly limiting to my gameplay. For one thing, it discourages the use of peace treaties if the ultimate intent is to wipe out the civilization as these negative bonuses appear to continue stacking. How far I...
