Not necessarily a puzzle, just that certain resources could only be found in a few areas of the world and in order to get them you'd need to fight or trade for them. Or expand ;)
I made a map with no goody huts since we are Aztec and a significant number of rivals are expansionist. Sedentary in this case is the same thing as no barbarians.
I'm pretty happy with the setup I've created in COTM 174. It's set up to be both winnable by any condition you want to go in (culture, domination, diplomatic, space) as well as challenging for a few reasons. I just can't decide if there should be barbarians involved or not. So, I'll let the...
Through testing multiple games due to making these maps, I've noticed that certain actions will give you the exact same result of popping a hut every single time. The hut you pop at the beginning due to settling in place is always going to be the same across the board for everyone. If you reload...
What an intriguing idea. If you recall my Inca COTM, I arranged the map to where it was possible to have two full rings of cities around the starting position while still being a city by the ocean. This map is a similar idea but with one ring (6 cities) if you choose to settle in place.
Still...
Posting this a little early because I'll be busy the next few weeks.
In COTM 171 you will be Prince Henry of the Portuguese people, who are expansionist and seafaring. Starting techs are Alphabet and Pottery. Your Unique Unit is the Carrack, an improved caravel that doesn't sink in ocean...
Use spearmen.
The AI, barbarians especially, will always make a beeline to where your weakest spots are. Swordsmen are fine if you are the one attacking, but if you're defending you need a defensive unit instead of an offensive unit. Focus on building up your defenses first - at least two...
Continents doesn't necessarily mean we are on a large piece of land with lots of neighbors. We could be on an Australia type of continent all on our lonesome.
Hmm, sounds like the normal advantage of having a scout isn't much of an advantage this time around. Wonder if settling on the hill would be enough for a culture victory given the luxury and wheat in the city radius. Probably doable on Regent even if it's not a fully optimal location.
The Viking invasion was repelled, and I got an MGL out of it! I created a cavalry army, built up my forces, and attacked. Strangely, the first city I captured only had two soldiers in it. Is it really going to be this easy? Did they stupidly make only their UU along with a few defensive units...
