The game wont let us purchase units with gold in this mode Also i cannot purchase missionaries with faith(my religion and holy site is all set up) Anyone know why this is or of there is a work around?

My wife and i play couch co-op on PS4...can we not use gold to buy units playing in this mode? We don't have any issues doing this if we each play single player
