Can someone explain the Culture victory once and for all?

I would also appreciate an explanation of how exactly the cultural victory is supposed to work. I know it has to do with tourism, and you have to have more foreign tourists than any other civilization has domestic tourists... but I have no idea on what basis those domestic tourists are...

    Promotion trees

I don't think everything will be ruined forever if this is how it ends up working, but a combat system based on differences rather than ratios seems very unintuitive to me. In most cases in everyday life, when something's strength or power or scope is measured, it's done using a linear scale...

    Promotion trees

These look very interesting, and much better than the Civ 5 philosophy, which I personally hated. I'm a little disappointed there are not more options, at level 1 (three options would hit the sweet spot for me), and on higher ones. I hope more will be added, as this seems like something...

City specialization and districts - how will it work in reality?

I really hope national wonders are not tightly connected with specific buildings. I'm not crazy about that arrangement in Civ 5. It would be cool if they were just unlockable (by policy/tech) wonders that differ from World Wonders only in that they can be built by multiple civilizations. Now...

    Land reclamation

I'm not sure if land reclamation is something I absolutely need for Civ 6, but I think modifying the existing terrain would be a very welcome feature. If nothing else, if the engine/basic gameplay included the possibility, it would give tremendous modding possibilities, even if the unmodded game...

    Your greatest fears

    1) Poor AI; 2) No support for MP mods or a very poor support for those; 3) Difficult and obtuse modding that only very skilled modders will be able to handle, or modding that's harshly limited by the mechanics of the base game.

I'm very excited for the new GP system

Oooooh, that's actually pretty great, and it does address some of my worries =) thanks for the info. I guess I need to dust off my mediocre German skills and read the article (or use Google Translate and pray).

I'm very excited for the new GP system

I understand that much, I just worry that getting the second best GP might be too weak if they differ in powers significantly - there's a risk you get an effect that is useless for you, rather than what you were originally shooting for. And if, on the other hand, the GP differ very little, the...

I'm very excited for the new GP system

I have two problems with this approach, even though it does look interesting. Firstly, it worries me that investment in a Great Person will be very risky if someone snatches the GP before you. This may be unbalanced and frustrating/unfun. One thing I actually liked about Civ4 that was not...

    "Appeal" values from screenshots

You're probably right, and in the end, I doubt there will be pop migration in the game, too. It was mostly a random, crazy-ish idea. But hey... I can dream, right? ;) As to your theory - I think it's much more plausible, and I actually would like that approach very much.

Old timer's, what are your thoughts so far?

I started a little backwards, with Colonization (the original one), around the time it was released (1994, I think?). A few years later, I got into Civilization, and played every game in the series since then. Despite some misgivings, I considered every single game in the series to be better...

    "Appeal" values from screenshots

I just had a thought... what if instead (or in addition to) city flipping, there was a migration mechanic of some sort? Related to Tourism and happiness, to distance between cities, and possibly to religion (e.g. people of a certain religion would move to a city with a majority population in...

    Balance for victory/loss in war

I hope this is not implemented the way it was in those games. I don't think arbitrarily taking the choice out of the player's hands is a good idea. "You are overruled by the Senate. Action cancelled" was the most annoying message I have ever seen in ANY civ game. On the other hand, I'm...

    Balance for victory/loss in war

I'm really excited about Civ 6, and I've been worrying how the new installment will handle the way war progresses. I feel the series has never been very good at handling prolonged wars, and Civ 4 and 5 was no exception. Let me explain. My experience playing was that war in the Civ series...

    "Appeal" values from screenshots

I agree. The connection of Tourism with one type of victory is fine, but it should have some effect, or even multiple effects, throughout the game. One pretty reasonable choice would be for Tourism to be connected to income/economy of the civilization.
