so I remember that Civ 4 default view had 3 of everything--ie, if you had a settler, the graphic that appeared was 3 settlers in a tile. This got on my nerves, and there was a choice to change the view to a single settler. Now Civ 5 has about 10 dudes (that represent a single unit) running...

Just started playing this--great game! I am playing as Griggori, and the soundtrack has a sort of haunting voice, chants, no words. Its very familiar, but I can't quite place it. Maybe from a game or a recent movie. Anyone know where I might have heard the soundtrack before?

Also--I noticed that immediately before the game crashes, the globe begins to spin, but the "waiting for other civilizaitons" text does not appear.

no, not using mods i turned on the auto-turn, and it went to 2015, but then crashed

The game crashed when I clicked end turn. I went back to a previous save, 2009, and it played fine until I hit end turn at 2013. I unisintalled and reinstalled the entire game. Still crashes at 2013 end turn. I had the same problem with another BTS game, crashing at about year 2000...

After playing a few games, I'm thinking its maybe creative and spiritual. I know, maybe a bit counterintuitive given that you're going to be in lots of wars. But the creative helps you quickly expand territory in cities you've conquered. And the spiritual helps you quickly change govts...

I get a very similar crash, with the same error message. The hard disk drive usually starts "chattering" before the crash. It has only happened on a large map (the "earth" scenario included in the game), toward the end of the game. This has never happened in over 100 hrs of play on standard...
